Are you wasting your blog posts?  Here are some simple SEO blog tips to ensure you’re getting the biggest bang for your buck!

Use these simple SEO blog tips to increase your traffic.

It’s a simple yet formula:

Good SEO = Traffic; Traffic = leads; Leads = sales;

Sales = $.

If you do any type of online business, chances are you’re using a blog to promote that business.

If you aren’t, you’re leaving money on the table.

But, like that billboard hiding behind a big bushy tree, a blog does you no good if nobody can see it.

So how do you get people to see your blog?

Here are a few simple SEO blog tips for you to help get your blog noticed, even if you’re just getting started.

SEO blog tips #1 – It helps to have a web domain that has power.  Consider the power of a shared domain v. For example we choose to use a shared domain blogging platform that has the kind of power we need to promote our business. It gives us a boost and makes getting ranked on any search engine easier because as a community, we’re using the same domain which creates a large web presence. Whereas a single site domain can take a long, long time to get noticed, because it is only you.

Here’s a visual for you. Imagine that the internet is the Grand Canyon, and you’re lost there. Standing at the bottom, all by yourself screaming for all you’re worth to be discovered…..

Now imagine you and a group of 75,000 people, all different but all working toward the same goal, standing in the Grand Canyon screaming for all they’re worth….

As big as the Grand C is…that kind of noise is going to get noticed!

Sure a little solitude is nice once in a while…but not when you’re trying to get your self and your business noticed by the masses.

SEO Blog tips #2 – Define your Intent. Very Important because if you don’t know what it is you’re trying to accomplish with your blog, your readers aren’t going to know what to do with your blog either.

So before you start, you have to know:

What is your intent for this blog? What do you want the person reading it to do? Do you want them to subscribe to your blog, enter an email address, engage with a comment, or buy something?

Before you even start your blog sit down and think about what exactly it is that you want to achieve with this blog post.

Which leads us to:

SEO blog tips #3 – Posting on Purpose and Keywords.

Posting on purpose. This is a very important step. It means your blog posts need to be relevant to your product and it must have value to the reader rather than willy nilly meandering around hoping someone will catch your point.

Example + Shameless self promotion: we have a killer system that teaches people how to blog effectively to promote their business and also provides an excellent affiliation program that allows you to make a good chunk of money. So we blog about things that we learn. We teach people what we know. We show them how effective the system is. The purpose of this post is to educate you about SEO while illustrating how it can be used in conjunction with a system like the one you’re on right now to get massive traffic to your blog posts and therefore more sales. So, we’re not going to blog about Jet propulsion, unless of course, we’re using the reference as an analogy for propelling your business by blogging, as we propel our business by blogging and using our own system – See how that works?

Check out our killer system here. Education + Earn while you learn = Success!

Keywords & Key Phrase (aka long tail keyword). Keywords and phrases are the word(s) you use in your blog that help people find your blog. So in other words, when somebody sits down and searches on their preferred search engine, you need a good word or phrase that will capture them and drive them to your site to get the information they’re looking for.

Think Grand Canyon again. Thousands and thousands of people visit the Grand Canyon every day.

If you’re one of the thousands and you’re standing in the canyon screaming:

I’m Bob and I’m in the Grand Canyon

A few people might walk by you and look at you funny, but so what? There are a million guys named Bob who come to the Grand Canyon and scream their heads off just to hear the echo!

If you were in dire need of someone to rescue you you’d be screaming

HELP! I’M LOST AND I NEED HELP!

Now THAT will draw a crowd! Because everyone who hears you will want to know who needs help and most will want to get you that help!

Although the point of getting people to your blog is so that you can help them…the point is still made. You have to find the right words that will drive people to your site.

The key phrase that brought everyone to you was “I need help!” Although I’m lost gets you close.

hint: Although I‘m lost doesn’t tell people exactly what you need, it gets you pretty close to help. I’m lost, in this instance is valuable and you don’t want to count it out! But in SEO, there can be only 1 MAJOR keyword/phrase. So, the proper place for those secondary key words and phrases is in your “tags” section.

And for those of you who don’t like Grand Canyon analogies, consider how you came across this post: What word or phrase did you type into your browser to get here?

It probably involved: ,SEO tips, SEO blog tips and or SEO and Blogging. Bottom line: You know for a fact that this blog is about Search Engine Optimization. We weren’t out there yelling:

“Hot Dogs!!! Get you’re free hot dogs!” and hoping that some hungry guy might land on our blog and also need some SEO advice. It might happen…but we’re not willing to bet the farm on it.

Keywords are a big topic, and this post has already run on beyond most attention spans…it’s far exceeded our own, so we’re going to continue the discussion tomorrow on our next post.
