How To Do A Blog Post…It is not as easy as it sounds….

When you think about how to do a blog post most see it as just puting pen to paper (figuratively) and writing stuff and for the most part that is exactly what it is but there are a few things that you must know and implement if you want your content to be noticed and read and shared not only by actual people on the internet but by the search engines as well.

How To Do A Blog Post With Tools

In the points below I use the wordpress blog platform as the example:

• Use the H1, H2, H3 etc tags throughout your text.  I.e. Commonly called: Heading 1, heading 2, heading 3. These should be applied to the Title and sub titles in your text according to their importance and can be found in the tool bar under ‘format’.

• Sitting on top of the tool bar is an Upload/Insert link which allows you to put photos, images, audio and video into your post. These things add body, character and interest to your content.

• The large A underlined allows you to change the colour of your text.  The large B makes your test bold.  The I italiacises your text. The large U underlined actually underlines your text.

• If you highlight a word or an image you can attach a hyperlink (another page or site) to lead the reader to an item or another place, by clicking the chain link image on the tool bar.  You can likewise unlink by using the broken chain link image.

• The arrow buttons will take you backwards or forwards to the last action you did.  Handy when you make mistakes )

• Putting bullet points or numbered paragraphs in your content highlights points of interest and also adds charachter.

• For the search engines sake, try and use your title at least two to six times in your content (depending on how long your post is), highlight the exact words so it stands out but make sure that when you use it the context you use it in makes sense and don’t over saturate the post with it.

There are many other tools available to show you how to do a blog post and to help you with making your content interesting.  What is described above gives you the basics which are all you need when learning how to do a blog post.

How To Do A Blog Post With Value

Just a couple of other things about how to do a blog post; When writing, write from the heart, write about what you know and if you want to quote others make sure you let your audience know where it came from.  If you are including facts in your post make sure they are accurate and say where you got your information from.  Do not copy other peoples content and claim it as your own, that is a no no.  If you need inspiration by all means read things others have written but put what you learn into your own words.

Most importantly, most people blog because they have something to say and want to share what they know with others.  If your content has true value consistently you will develop a following and the possibility of new friends and customers is yours.  Don’t abuse that privilege and always leave a link at the bottom of your post of another place they can get to know you better.
