What Does Rich Look Like For You?

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Have you ever stopped to think just what being rich means to you? What picture does it paint in your head?

Do you think of lots of money, fancy cars, glorious homes, art collections, fabulous clothes and accessories? Do you think of the attention it will bring you, the admiration, the friends? Do you think of all the places you can visit, all the extra toys you can purchase, the tattoos you can get, the stereo equipment, the days at the golf course or spa? What else do you think of when pondering what rich looks like?

Do you think of all the things you could do for friends and family, do you think of the needy and down trodden in your community that could benefit from your richness? Do you think of other ways to put money to use that could be beneficial for many, do you think of your future and that of your friends and family and how you could help make the world a better place?

Does having lots of money and things make you rich or does having the freedom to travel and spend your time with whomever you want whenever you want make you rich? Is it your bank account that decides your richness or is it the bounteous experiences?

The concept of ‘being rich’ is different for everybody. The most common thought pattern leans toward that of money and material things. So much stock is put into the mindset that riches equal material things that have a market value that we tend to overlook the most valuable riches of all!

The riches of the mind are an untapped well. A mind rich in imagination and creativity will yield more value than a million million dollars simply because inanimate objects remain inanimate until they are put to good use. A mind rich in happiness will add more value to all it meets than any fancy car or any amount of shoes and handbags.

A mind that creates a solution that changes the way a community thinks and provides ongoing value as a result is richer than all the seas of the world with satisfaction and the knowledge that all the riches you need the mind can produce in bucket fulls….if you want :o)

Personally, I think that to be truly rich is a combination of all of these things. You can be materially rich AND emotionally, spiritually, physically, mentally rich as well and if you are fortunate to have them all then your capacity to help others is enormous. Imagine what we could achieve if we all had the mindset to become as rich as we possibly could in all areas?
