Every Wednesday she profiled somebody: an author, a photographer, a media company, a woman selling at home parties. The questions repeat each time and they are good ones, starting with where the person was born and what their parents did, so what comes back is a life rather than a pitch.

The hardest of them features a mother who lost her son to suicide and wrote a book addressed to him, describing herself as somebody who cut out her own heart and served it in book form. That interview is what the whole series had been building toward.

Away from the series she covers memory, a board game she recommends for families, a renaissance festival she clearly enjoyed, and a book about leaving an office behind for good.

One post handles contractors who do home improvement badly, and it is funnier than that sounds.

Sixteen posts. Read the interviews, which is where all the work went.
