Network Marketing: Knowing Its Money-Grubbing Possibilities

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Have you really ever considered getting into network marketing despite the bad rep it has earned over the years? Was it because of the product or the income potential? ()

There are several individuals roaming around this industry who has not given up on this business model yet. But when it comes to marketing whatever home business they have chosen at that time to market, there are instances where the fit is not right. The only thing that is clear to them is the promise of passive income by building a network of distributors that would secure an early retirement.

It should no longer be surprising to find some of these “network marketing junkies” online peddling whatever software or home business system they could get their hands with. Marketing online products enter a tricky phase where they confuse network marketing with affiliate marketing. Sales scripts get mixed up. The network busts before it gets assembled and for those who really had it bad, they switch companies before even realizing what they have done wrong in their business plan?

What really is it that they have done wrong?

Out of fear of coming across as overly analytical about aspects of their chosen home business, they’d rather switch to another company or affiliate marketing program before correcting any mistake in the marketing plan. Sure enough, they fail because of improper marketing skills due to misplaced priorities and errors that they fail to see.

It’s okay to put into consideration passive income into the equation. But that is not the end-all be-all of the network marketing company or affiliate marketing company that you are currently into. This is still a home business after all where you cater to the needs of other people by offering products that would be beneficial to them. Do you think you would end up earning more if you are more about the money and less about the service? Of course not, things are bound to get worse once your own potential customers get the gist that you are not really concerned about their plight. Rather you would want to make money off of their dire financial situation.

Granted you are here to make money. But starting first in teaching yourself the difference between network marketing and affiliate marketing would give you a better understanding to the aspect of elevating your home business opportunity into a charitable way of helping friends and family how to make money as a skill.

Marketing a home business opportunity based on the massive income potential and the perk of passive income has its pitfalls too. You lose sight of the products that you need to sell. And you lose grip of the methods of selling.

Understand first that affiliate marketing tends to focus on the sale made. Network marketing on the other hand focuses on the people that you end up recruiting into your home business opportunity after a sale is made. In marketing a product, affiliates focus on the reselling aspect while networkers focus on the leadership training that comes after the sale. Knowing the difference between the two first would give you a clearer picture on how to attain that passive income you’ve been working hard for.

Everyone can market with the help of a network but not all networks are successful at marketing. Remember that marketing is a numbers’ game and networks secure transactions.
