I thought I’d ask you all that question to find out what you think about such things. You all know what’s really real right? Tax, death and hard work… these things are all real and unavoidable. But what about all the other stuff? The billions of not-completely-real but nevertheless real enough for us to talk about them, imagine, fantasise and dream.
What about all that? Wouldn’t our ‘real world’ be a harsh unfaceable construction of real, painful and inescapable factual stuff? Would you really want to live in such a place?
No, you wouldn’t. The minute it got uncomfortable you’d hope, wish or dream that you were somewhere else. We all would.
Do you believe?
So how is it that we can put more hope, dreaming or “if only…” into some idea that is ‘not real’ than our existing real world?
Perhaps our real world is, in part, an illusion itself…
We ourselves are real, because we think and dream and converse. We exchange within the uni-sphere of our “agreed upon” reality, but underneath it all we don’t really hold much value for ‘reality’. That which is valuable to us however are our hopes, our dreams, our “if onlys…” Those things we can never lose, but we think we can also never find…
So, we believe in fairies.
We’d never admit it out loud to others, but within, we believe. We hold on to those treasured hopes. We tell stories to our children and ‘let them believe while they can’ before they grow up and have their own dreams and hopes crushed by reality…..
.. I’m not finished here yet , but I need to rest this body. I’ll complete this blog tomorrow..
Hello again, having awoken once again from a dream-filled night of alternate realities, which appear to me at least as real as my daily existence. I laugh, cry, fear and hope in my dreams as I do when awake, and sometimes with more intensity, to the point where my dreams are inspiration for my mundane human temporary existence.
I have a total certainty myself, that even when this body is perished and gone, that my own existence is continuous and hence the path of my half-remembered dreams will take some scenes from this short earthly existence to be included in my half-remembered dreams of another life somewhere in the distant (or not so distant) future.
So what does it matter if you believe in fairies or not…?
Perhaps it doesn’t matter. Or perhaps those that do or who can believe in things that ‘aren’t real’ have an extended point of view on existence, such that when they finally discover the truth, their reaction is, “you know, I knew it all along”, and not those who can not ‘believe’ anything that they can’t perceive with their bodily senses. “If you can’t show it to me then it doesn’t exist”…..are in for a shock when the truth is brought to light before them. Some people harshly deny the existence of anything para-normal, but anyone who has their experience open to new concepts and ideas can percieve that waht we see is not the totallity of the truth of our existence. There is something more, something powerful and something extraordinarily great that is just beyond our current perception, but we feel it and we know it.
We sense it when our children tell of the fairies that came to them in the night, and the flying horses and talking doves and flowers that they happily explain to us they were conversing with in their dreams…..
Some people will say that I’m mad. I don’t care. because you see, I believe in fairies….
Do you believe in fairies?
