Eating Protein  It’s possible to build complete protein from plant-based foods

Eating Protein  It’s up to you guys, the evidence is right there. As for my life, I would rather challenge the status quo than blindly follow it.

It’s now science that the T-bone steak is the manliest thing you can eat. This was strange to me at first because the Ribeye is a part of the same animal. However, it makes sense that- if the flavor and quality of the meat can change based on its location on the animal, so can the amino acid profile.

High blood pressure after 2 months of low carb eating??                 – Protein Power Forums

Eating Protein  It’s just WEIRD! I told my brother-in-law (he’s a personal trainer, who suggested this type of eating plan for me) and he was completely shocked. I do think there are a few tweaks I can make (fried chicken wings technically ARE low carb…) So my current plan is to try and clean it up, get a home-monitor, and not stress about it for a month. And if I’m still seeing high numbers, see if I can switch my GP to a low-carb doctor in a nearby city, because at least I know she won’t instantly point at my diet as the cause.

It’s also important to remember that food weight does not equal  protein weight. For example, if you weigh near-fat-free chicken breasts on a food scale and the total is 140 grams it doesn’t mean you are getting even close to 140 grams of protein. In fact, 140 grams of chicken contains about 43 grams of protein, less that 1/3 of the total weight. People forget the heaviest piece: water.

It’s nice to hear a breakdown of guidelines for specific groups of people.  I’ve always just heard the 1g/lb bodyweight thrown around by different people.

It’s all from following my cravings. Which, eating Primally, are far more trustworthy than I’ve been used to.

Eating Protein It’s here the initial claim comes into play. While the pathways for fatty acid synthesis from amino acids do exist — no argument there — the statement that all excess protein, under specified conditions, will be stored as fat ignores recent evidence.

It’s smart to eat enough protein and carbohydrates. While protein won’t give you energy, it will keep your heart and muscles in shape so that you can exercise and keep your body healthy with the energy created by the carbohydrates you consume. It’s recommended that adult women take in 46 g of protein per day, and adult males consume 56 g per day.

Eating Protein  It’s possible that for athletes doing more than one workout in a day the extra speed of absorption featured by taking in a 2 to 1 ratio of carbs to protein post-workout is a good idea.  For everyone else, focusing on protein and total calories is just as good for your muscles, and probably better for your health.

It’s possible to build complete protein from plant-based foods by combining legumes, nuts, and grains at one meal or over the course of a day. But you’ll need to consume 20 to 25 percent more plant-based protein to reap the benefits that animal-derived sources provide, says Dr. Tarnopolsky. And beans and legumes have carbs that make it harder to lose weight.

Eating Protein  It’s just gas. Could be caused by anything. No need to see a doctor — just get some GasX and don’t worry about it.
