Eating Protein High-Protein Meals Can Help the Overweight Burn Fat

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Eating Protein When food is cooked there is a significant change in the structure of the proteins. This change can alter them into a more toxic product that may cause kidney damage.  This can, however, be largely moderated by consuming far more of your protein in its raw state. This is certainly the case for  eggs .

If you need food as a reward and a treat, or to numb your feelings, your natural pleasure enhancers, the pain-killing endorphins, are probably in short supply.  Foods that elevate your endorphin activity can easily become addictive.  If you “love” certain foods, those foods are firing a temporary surge of endorphins.

Euphoria, joy, the “runner’s high” – these are all feelings produced by endorphins.  Some people have so much natural endorphins that they smile all the time and get great pleasure from everyday life.  Of course, we all endure suffering and loss.  But, with enough endorphins, we can bounce back.

Likewise, not all food contains all the amino acids needed to make protein. Foods that do contain all the essential amino acids are called complete proteins. Animal foods are good sources of complete proteins while plant sources are often incomplete proteins. So if you eat a diet that limits or restricts animal products, it’s important to eat a variety of plant-based proteins to get all the essential amino acids your body needs. And for those who do eat animal products, choosing lean proteins can help with avoiding other health risks like heart disease.

Eating protein rich food is important to be healthy.  Our muscles, organs and immune system are made up mostly of proteins.  Our bodies use protein to make hemoglobin, the red part of our blood cells that carries oxygen to every part of our body.  Proteins also help build new cells and maintain tissues.  A large part of the protein you consume each day goes into making enzymes, which are specialized worker proteins that do specific jobs, such as digest food and make new cells.

Put all ingredients in a food processor (except blueberries & agava) and blend.  Once blended add the blueberries.  Cook on pan like regular pancakes.  Drizzle with agava nectar.
Eating Protein This makes sense to me.  Food today is not the same as the food our prehistoric ancestors ate.  It isn’t even the same as the food our recent ancestors ate.

Potassium is found in many food groups, including fruits and vegetables. Choosing the right item from each food group can help control your potassium levels.

Eating Protein Due to the “thermic effect” of food, a moderate to high protein diet increases the metabolic rate, which help people burn more calories. The “thermic effect” of proteins is higher than any other food (almost 30%). So if you are consuming for example 100 calories of lean meat, then the body burns up 30 calories just digesting the food. This means that the net calorie value is only 70 calories.

Eating Protein This means that proteins are much less likely to be turned to fat because of the high “thermic effect”. So if you reduce your carbohydrate consumption, the “thermic effect” of the entire  diet  goes higher.
