3 easy steps for SEO

This “cheat sheet” reveals some of the secrets I use to find profitable niche markets online, and the tricks to building high ranking sites in those markets.
All of this promotion is done with 100% free search engine traffic so you never have to worry about expensive pay per click costs.
Step #1 is all about finding a market.
HINT: Choose evergreen markets, like “weight loss”, “dating”, “fitness” etc and look for specific products within that market.
My favorite sites for quick research are OfferVault.com and CBEngine.com
At CBEngine.com you can find the Clickbank products that DON’T have a ton of competition – just look for the “New Products” link under “Find Products”
Then look for products that have gravity values above 2 (this indicates that while it’s still a new product, there are affiliates promoting)
There’s one there called “SpouseSpy”, which we can take another look at:
problem so people searching for this product are going to be likely to purchase.
Step #2 is all about looking at the competition.
To do this, I use the Firefox browser with the “SEO Firefox” plugin (available with your free account here: http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/seo-for-firefox.html
This plugin allows you to see extra data when you perform search results – and gives you important information about your competition.
For example, I did a search here for “Spouse Spy Software” to check the competition:
There are 59,300 results, which may seem like a lot at first, but I’ll explain why it isn’t in a moment.
The SEO Firefox plugin gives the extra information below each listing as shown above.
For me, the most important ones are:
Y! Links = Number of links (according to Yahoo) to the domain
Y! Page Links = Number of links (according to Yahoo) to the specific page
Even though the first one has 11,500 links to the domain, it doesn’t have the keyword
“Spouse Spy Software” in the title.
So with an exact match domain e.g. SpouseSpySoftware.net/.org and some good on-page seo, it could be easy to beat.
In reality, the competition from positions 2-4 is also really weak – look at the number of links to the actual pages and they are all really low. One has 102, one has only 7 and the other one has 0!!
This could be an easy keyword to rank for … but we want to check a few other criteria first.
Remember above when we were saw there were 59,300 results when we searched for
“spouse spy software”?
Ideally, we like this number to be as low as possible, preferably less than 20-30k.
However, there are no hard and fast rules, so a little more analysis will help…
Here’s another search code you can use:
allintitle:”spouse spy software” (replace with any keyword)
This code will search for all the pages that have the exact keyword phrase in their pages title tag (which is one of the MOST important on-page seo factors)
Doing this search shows a VERY small number of competing pages …
There are only 339 pages that have this exact keyword in the page title … and from a quick scan using the SEO Firefox plugin, only 1 of those pages has a link, and the rest have 0 links pointing to the pages!!
This is a perfect keyword, especially as (at the time of writing this) there is an exact match domain available – SpouseSpySoftware.net and SpouseSpySoftware.org
All you need to do is register that domain, set up a wordpress blog (making sure to include your keywords in your title and page content) and build a few backlinks to it.
You can submit articles with links back to your site, videos with links back to your site, podcasts, and you can bookmark the site on social bookmarking sites.
All of this will help generate backlinks to your site and get your site ranking highly.
You can also find more places to backlink by following these simple steps:
#1 – Use these searches in Google to find relevant blogs to comment on:
inurl:blog -”comments are closed” “leave a comment” “keyword/phrase”
inurl:blog -”comments are closed” “post a comment” “keyword/phrase”
(Replace “keyword/phrase” with your chosen keyword or phrase)
If you don’t get many results, you can try using a broader keyword e.g. instead of “Spy
Software” use “Spy”
#2 – You can also find even more thematically related sites using the “~” in front of your keyword phrase e.g. ~spy
The ‘~’ modifier tells Google to find sites that include phrases that are related, but not directly. E.g ‘~spy’ also reveals results for ‘hidden’ and ‘surveillance’
#3 – This is possibly the easiest way … click on the SEO Firefox results.
By clicking on the “Y! Links” or “Y! Page Links” section for any result, you’ll then be presented with a list of every backlink pointing to that site. Use this list to go out and generate your own backlinks … right from under your competition’s nose!
This result shows 7051 links for the particular domain and it lists all of them below. All you need to do is go and see if you can add your link on the site also!
