Spending Quality Time With Family

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

The other day I had the afternoon off.

I had a list of things I needed to get done.

I was going to be productive!

It was great that I got off early because it gave me more time to get things done so I could relax and feel accomplished.

Too often I think about the things I need to get done rather than thinking of my relationships that need my attention.

My mom and my sister came to mind as I was running an errand.

I was going to go mail something out then back to the house to clean.

For some reason my sister came to mind.

I hadn’t hung out with her in a while.

We live in the same town, but we don’t see each other often.

My mom and I are the same.

I go see her occasionally.

Honestly, I should go see her at least once a week if not more.

My mom is very special to me, but I don’t show her nearly as often as I should.

So… I decided right then and there, while driving, that I would take a detour for the afternoon.

I stopped at my sister’s place and knocked on her door like a crazy person.

As soon as she answered, I told her to get her shoes on because I was kidnapping her.

She was thrilled that I randomly stopped by to steel her away.

We went and grabbed lunch and headed to our parents to hang out with mom.

I was excited to hang out with my mom and my sister.

Family is so important to me.

Sadly, sometimes I let life take a hold of my priorities and I forget about the special relationships I have with my family.

We had a great afternoon of reminiscing, laughing, and spending some quality time together.

It made my day.

My mom and my sister were glad I took the time to hang out as well.

There will always be a list of things that have to get done.

There will always be chores to do everyday.

There will always be the distractions that life brings along.

But there will not always be moments and memories to cherish with family.

Take your time when your time needs to be quality time.

Don’t rush the important things of life.

People are important.

Relationships are important.

Take your time with your relationships.

Give them your quality time.

Your time is valuable so spend it wisely.

What is important to you?

If you’re anything like me, family is important to you.

You may even have specific family time that you dare not miss.

I admire that.

These days, life just is a busy whirlwind.

It is easy to get distracted and feel as though you don’t have enough time in your day.

Make your time matter and spend it with those you love.

The people we love make all the difference in our lives.

They are who have helped mold you into the person you are today.

Be grateful for your family and give them some of your quality time.

There is nothing more enjoyable to me than spending quality time with people I love.

Which is part of my reason to work hard now, so I can have even more quality time to share in the future.

I want time freedom.

What about you?

Do you want to spend more time with your family or your friends?

I do.

Come along and join me in becoming free from the restrictions of time.

Let’s together give our families the quality time they deserve.

To your success,
Ashley Dunn
