What Are Your Options
When It Comes to The Internet and Home Surveillance?
I recently returned from a trip to Las Vegas and I kept asking myself if others have taken advantage of the Internet and home surveillance? Today keeping an eye on your home or property while your away is now a reality.
By utilizing the Internet and today’s home surveillance technology anyone can view their property no matter where they are on this planet.
With advancements in IP camera technology over the last 5-10 years, the Internet and home surveillance has become a huge marketplace for consumers. The cost of IP cameras and monitoring equipment has considerably dropped in cost and is more affordable than ever before.
Even the do it yourself person could install and set up a series of networking cameras in no time.
Internet and Home Surveillance
Obviously the first thing your are going to need is a good Internet connection. The Internet is the key to your internet and home surveillance system, which will help you to keep an eye on your home. Before doing anything else or purchase equipment you want to make sure you can get a high speed Internet connection to your property or home location. A regular dial up connection is not going to work as the speeds are not meant to broadcast a video signal.
There are two options that you can choose from, each one varying in features and complexity. The first option is using a personal computer. The home owners surveillance cameras are connected to a computer which will record a digital video 24 hours a day or it will record on any movement detected by the camera. I would suggest that you get a internet and home surveillance system that you can adjust the settings to your liking, as some home surveillance systems do come limited.
Your computer can play back the digital video on your monitor as well as record the home surveillance video to your hard drive. Of course you will need to connect the home surveillance system computer to the Internet through an Internet Service Provider to really utilize the capabilities of your system from another location.
In order to use your system from another location you will need to log into the computer with a user name and password. You can access your system anytime, and operate the computer and watch the digital video recordings that your home surveillance system has been recording.
The second option is much easier. Typically, this option is used to access a home surveillance system through a single IP surveillance camera. Setting your system up this way will enable you to access your single IP camera through a Internet address. This way all you need to do is connect to your IP address to access your system.
When you connect to your address you can now see live streaming video through the IP camera. This connection works just like a web cam where you can view digital video any time you want.
Internet and Home Surveillance Made Easy
Regardless of which option you choose both are fairly easy to use. For most home owners the second option is easier to use and setup. The Cool thing is that you can log in anytime you want 24/7. This way you can check your home, properties and business whenever you want and change your preferences on the fly from another location.
The Internet and home surveillance has certainly become a new tool for home and property owners Who knew 20 years ago that this type of Internet and home surveillance would be a possibility. Investing in the Internet and home surveillance will keep you from wondering if your property is safe while your away.
