Feeling like your day has been a loss?  Look working from home can be a challenge.  I cannot tell you the number of times a day that I have to stop to take care of something kid, house, or wife related.  I am not complaining, well all that much, but sometimes the distractions of the day can take a toll on your business.  So here are some ideas to help you with finding the balance and getting back into the groove.

So how do you handle all the onslaught of calls, interruptions, and just plain time sucks that working on the internet can become with sites like social media?  Well the first thing you do is not to beat yourself up.  If you start to feel down about not being on task, it is just going to be that much harder to get there.

I recommend greatly that you make sure that you set a schedule for working. You need to set ground rules with family and friends.  Give them your schedule and let them know you will not be taking care of their issues during this time.  That does not mean that if Timmy gets sick or your mom’s house is on fire that you ignore it, you would leave work for those emergencies.  But if you best friend calls to just chit chat or you daughter comes in to talk to you about her babies, these things can wait.  Just gently remind those that interrupt that you are working and when you are done you will make sure to make time for their need.

I also recommend that if you have gotten lost in the abyss of social media that you stop right where you are at.  Why did you get on the social media site to begin with?  It is not that you are trying to get lost, more than likely you were looking for something in particular and just lost your focus.  It is time to regroup and remember what you were doing.  Here is a good tip, if you are looking for something specific or you are networking with others, then set a goal and write it down.  Keep it next to your computer.  This will help to keep you on track and on target.

If all else fails and you cannot get back in the groove of things.  Do not call the day a loss, pick a job that does not work to bring you money such as cleaning your office or creating a banner for a new ad campaign that you are creating and do that for the remainder of the time.  That way you maintain your routine and keep yourself on a business building task, without having to be so engaged for the time.

We all have moments where our minds wonder.  We all have days where we just need to take a break.  The trick is to not let one day turn into two or a week or a month.  You must keep momentum going in your business if you want to succeed.  There is no boss saying that you have such and such due on my desk by 3 today. You are that boss and you will have to find the way to hold yourself accountable.

If you are looking to find someone that will help you create your dreams and teach you to hold yourself accountable then learn more here.
