Harness The Power Of Brainstorming

Let’s face it if you are in a home base business you are going to have to find ways to be creative to take you business to the next level.  You are going to have to be creative in help yourself learning to grow to the levels that are required for growth.  It will be up to you to create the solutions that you need for your particular problems.  You might some answers online, you will not find everything that you need there or it might not apply to your problem.

So where do you come up with the solutions to fit your problems?  Well you brainstorm.  Now when I hear brainstorm it means something different to me, my daughter has epilepsy and so it means to me and electrical overload and the fact that my child’s brain is basically flipping out.  If you have witnessed a seizure they are scary.  Most of them last a few seconds to minutes, hers last for hours.  Anyway I tell you this to give you some tips on brainstorming and how that if you do not apply some rules they too can become out of control like a seizure.

So when you are brainstorming you do not want the session to become out of control.  The best way to do this is to set limits.  These limits should apply no matter whether you are brainstorming alone or with others.  You should keep these time limits short.  15 to 20 minutes work very well for one of these sessions, but no more than 40 minutes.  The other thing is that nobody has a stupid idea.  Often the one that seems off the wall or too simple is the one that has the most promise.

During my research on this subject I found that it was best if you working in person not to work in group or share the ideas out loud until the session of brainstorming is over.  Everyone should write down their all their ideas and they should be passed along so that they can be seen by everybody if you are working in a team.  I also found that not only do individuals perform better alone in brainstorming ideas for solutions with no exception except one and that is to brainstorm online.

So what are you supposed to do after all the ideas are turned in?  The first thing that you should do is group the ideas together.  Take the ones that are closely related and put them in the same categories.  Now is time for the revision of ideas and working together to piece the ideas together.  Again this is a time that no thought or idea is stupid and everyone should be treated with respect.

These revised ideas can then be organized as to what will work best for the solution and what should be used to follow up with the solution chosen.  Your brainstorming ideas should be kept on file so that you can revisit them and use remaining ideas to create or test results.

This activity can help you in any area of your business.  It can help you when coming up with content to create that is relative to your business.  It helps when finding new ways to prospect and look for new clients.  It also is great in helping to create new marketing campaigns.  No matter the problem brainstorming can help to come up with the solution.
