Success is not magic.  Success is a process of thinking and acting and adjusting so that you get the results you desire.  Superstar success story Shaqir Hussyin shared some wisdom with me the other day, and I was inspired to create this video to share this knowledge with my followers, and the readers of my blog.

10 Things Every Successful Person Knows

1 – Life is a journey of self discovery.  You need to be inspired.  You need to dream.  You need to understand ‘Now’, this moment, is your life.  It is all you ever have.

2 – You are responsible for where you are in life.  Take responsibility.  Own it, or you can’t change it.  Once you own it, you’ll realize you have the power to create any outcome in life you want simply by thinking and acting differently.  You create your results.  You are not a victim.

3 – Invest in yourself.  You must educate yourself and embark on a path of personal growth to be the best ‘you’ you can be.

4 – Do the opposite of the masses.  In general, people are unaware and on auto-pilot.  Most are like drones, practically sleep walking through life.  The masses are like a huge herd of sheep, or wildebeast.  Follow the herd and you’ll end up following them off the edge of the cliff.  You must do the exact opposite of the masses in almost all cases to be doing the right things for a better life.

5 – Helping others get what they want is how you will get what you want.  Becoming successful happens by providing true value to as many people as possible.  Becoming a leader, and enriching others lives, and providing what others need, is how you achieve.

6 – 80/20 Rule – 80% Production, 20% Consumption.  You must spend 80% of your time producing results.  You must spend you time on income producing activities 80% of the time.  20% of the time you need to study, read, learn, practice.  But the rest of the time you need to be moving forward by doing things that advance your ability to make money.  You need to get results, whether successes or failures, to progress.  You can’t continually prepare and learn, you must execute.  The former is called procrastination.

7 – People Join People.  The company or business you are in and trying to inspire others to join isn’t what will pull people onto your team.  The company may be great, but no one is going to join you because of the company.  They are going to join you because you inspire them and lead them.  If the company is something a person wants, they’ll go find someone else to join with who they feel can offer them value and leadership.

8 – Focus not on getting, but on providing value.  Don’t look at your business and think how you can earn your next dollar or who you can get to buy a product.  You must look at your business and ask yourself how you can provide more value to more people more often.  Everything else flows from that focus.

9 – Drop the Ego!  Unless you have all the money you want, have all the love you want, have thriving and numerous personal relationships that fulfill you, then you need to boot your ego out the door.  Your ego stops you from hearing and following the teachings of others who have information and experience that can help you get to where you want to go.  The ego is what sabotages you from getting past where you are.  It is like the little devil over your left shoulder telling you why everyone is an idiot or why this is a scam.  Boot the ego, open the heart and mind.
