Are You Being Held Back By Your Beliefs?

I have been listening a lot lately to audios about changing the way you think. It seems we are holding ourselves back because of our beliefs about making lots of money. I had a think about it and I agree that I am one of those people who has held the belief that I would never be able to make the money you see others make.
Think about it if you go back to when you were a child. Did you ever hear your parents say “do you think I am made of money” or ” do you think money grows on trees” if it does I want one of those trees out my back garden:)
Our beliefs about becoming wealthy being wrong stems from those sayings, it instills in us a belief that we are not worthy of becoming rich. There I said the dreaded four letter word that most of us think we can’t become “RICH”. Have you noticed that a lot of the bad guys in the old films were the local rich businessmen who seemed to own everything in town and everyone hated them?
From a young age we are taught to belief that we have to leave school, get a job, work for 40 odd years and retire as broke as when we started. Then struggle for the rest of your life. I watched my father and mother do this. My father was a coal miner and I remember my mother doing 3 different cleaning jobs a day just to get by, surely that can’t be right. This was probably what they had been taught by their parents, work hard just to survive.
Of course I have followed the same path as my parents, left school went from job to job for a couple of years. Then I worked as a postal worker for over 28 years, some weeks working 60-70 hours a week just to survive and bring up my family. If I new then what I know now I would have got out years ago. But I stayed in that job for 28 years until about 3 years ago I took a redundancy just to get out of there. I knew there had to be something else.
I dabbled a bit on ebay but the money I was making for the effort I was putting in wasn’t worth my while. I then discovered internet marketing, what an eye opener. There were guys making thousands and thousands of dollars a day, I wanted a piece of that pie.
I suppose you are expecting me to say I never looked back, well you would be wrong. What followed was a couple of years of frustration jumping from program to program looking for the instant riches that I now know doesn’t exist. It was those beliefs I had in my head from childhood that were still holding me back. I had a few minor successes but not the breakthrough I was hoping for.
In November I joined Empower Network but as usual lack of self belief stopped me following through with the training. Around February I decided to stop chasing the next big thing and concentrate on Empower Network. I made the money back quite quickly that I had spent on the EN products so that was good but still no big breakthrough.
Even though it was a stretch I decided I needed to be at the Empower Network event in Atlanta in June 2012. That was about 2 weeks ago. It was an amazing weekend spending time with people who are having amazing results with Empower Network. Watching people going up to collect their big cheques on the stage was truly inspiring. Here is a picture of the big cheques:)

I decided on that weekend that I want to be one of those people collecting the big cheque at the next event in San Diego. The speakers at the event have finally convinced me to let go of all those old beliefs that I am not worthy of success. Well, it is time for me to finally break free from these beliefs and go on to live the life that I know my family and I deserve. I now know I can achieve big success with Empower Network and work with people with the same attitude.
