Many States Wanting to Secede from the US?
It started 2 days after the election.
The first state, Louisiana, filing a petition to secede from the U.S.
Ho hum… post-election-letdown, right?
Signed by only a few hundred people… hardly worthy of front-page headlines, right?
Not so fast… at the time of this writing, Louisiana’s petition now has over 22,000 signatures and counting…
…and it turns out that many states are filing the same petitions… many states wanting to secede from the US.
Many States Wanting to Secede from the US… Big Deal?
1st of all, I didn’t vote for either Romney or Obama… I’m observing this phenomenon as a fascinated, independent observer.
2nd, I’m not saying this is going to lead anywhere. In order for a petition to even get the White House to notice, it must have at least 25,000 signatures… just to get a,
“OK, what’s that you wanted again?”
And as you can imagine, getting a petition is only a first step out of many steps that would be required.
But the fact that 1,000′s of people are taking the time to actually sign this petition is pretty revealing of what’s going on in our country. Many states wanting to secede from the US can’t be taken lightly
How many states wanting to secede from the US now?
As reported today by WorldNetDaily, it turns out there are now 19 states wanting to secede from the US and counting…
Texas was one of the next states to follow. At the time of this writing, the Texas petition now has over 47,000 signatures and counting… about 800 new signatures every hour.
They’re already awaiting their response from the White House.
Let’s do a little math on Texas-
Population: approx. 26 million.
Economy: 15th largest in the world. (Note: that’s in the entire world, not just the U.S.)
Chances are they could survive pretty well on their own…
Petition signers: 47,000 and counting. Still not even 1% of the population.
Cause for concern? Statistically, not yet… but you know how movements like this can catch on…
…and an ever-troubled economy and the large political divide in the country aren’t helping things.

Joining Louisiana and Texas are many other states filing these petitions wanting to secede from the US.
The list of states now includes: Arkansas, South Carolina, Georgia, Missouri, Tennessee, Michigan, New York, Colorado, Oregon, New Jersey, North Dakota, Montana, Indiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, Florida, North Carolina, Alabama and Texas.
Many States Wanting to Secede from the US… What does this mean?
No one knows yet. The verdict is still out.
But one thing is certain… this country is far from united. This last election was decided by less than 2% of the vote.
Hardly a vision of unity.
The roots of this movement started back during 2010 with the growth of the “10th Amendment Movement”… where more and more states starting asserted their Constitutional responsibility to question and resist Federal laws that they felt weren’t in the best interests of their citizens, like Obamacare.
Apparently there’s a lot of people who are fed up with the status quo, who are fed up with Washington, DC, not listening to them… and who are fed up with both major parties spending their future into oblivion.
The early results?
Some early results of all this since Election Tuesday are the State votes in Colorado and Washington to legalize the recreational use of marijuana.
What’s next?
Only time will tell.

I truly hope it doesn’t come to States leaving the union, because I believe that the sum is greater than the individual parts.
But I respect and understand the feeling that’s behind this growing movement.
