White Ribbon

White Ribbon is an organisation that is working to prevent the most common and pervasive form of male violence – that towards women. All forms of violence are unacceptable. White Ribbon believes the prevention of violence against women will change society for the better.

White Ribbon believes in the capacity of the individual to change and to encourage change in others. It believes that our generation can and must work towards stopping men’s violence against women.

Through primary prevention initiatives and an annual campaign, White Ribbon works to change the attitudes and behaviours that lead to men’s violence against women.

Please swear… and get your mates to do the same!

I have joined a growing number of Australians who have taken a stand and believe that the violence stops now, with our generation.

I, and countless other Australians, have sworn never to commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women. By swearing the Oath, I have actively shown my commitment to promote positive attitudes and behaviours towards women.

We ask that you live the Oath by:

  • Reflecting on your own behaviours and attitudes towards women.
  • Challenging sexist attitudes and behaviours.
  • Breaking the silence by talking to your mates and being heard on social media.
  • Encouraging mates who are using violence in their relationships to get professional help.
  • Listening to friends who are experiencing violence and encouraging them to seek help.
  • Volunteering or hosting a fundraising event.
  • Making a donation to sustain White Ribbon’s work with men and boys in schools and communities.
  • Supporting White Ribbon Day, 25 November, the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, by wearing a white ribbon or wristband.
  • Calling the Police on 000 if you see or hear someone being violent. Never put yourself in danger or challenge violence with violence.

Check out the White Ribbon website for more information on other ways you can support White Ribbon, or click the buttons below and get your friends to swear too.
