A List of The Top Blogging Sites

With the huge variety out there, it can be very difficult to work out what the top blogging sites are.  This article will explain the key features of some of the most popular blogging sites available.

Firstly, you have to decide on what kind of blog you are after…
Are you blogging for fun or business?
Selling products or sharing your adventures with friends and family.

Blogger:

Blogger is a nice, free blogging site that is easy to use.
Blogger is a good blogging platform if you are just a casual blogger.
You can also link it up with your Google Plus and Gmail accounts which adds that social media connection very well.
Although Blogger may look a little plain it would be the one of the top blogging sites around for a “fun” blogger.

Squidoo

Squidoo can be used for either fun or for making money.  You also have the option of giving any money you earn to a charity, which is very nice.
The layout of Squidoo is much different to other blogging sites.
It is something of a mix between a blogging site and an E-zine site.
Personally, I find the site to be hard to navigate and confusing so I personally do not use it.

Tumblr

A very active community, perhaps one of the largest!
Tumblr is certainly among the top blogging sites when it comes to artistic blogs.  The bulk of users on Tumblr share and “re-blog”
each others works, generally photos and art.

WordPress

Definitely a more serious blogging platform.  This free blogging site is your best free option if you want to start a blog to promote a product or company.
WordPress has a variety of customizable features to make it personalized to you.

The Top Blogging Sites

As I mentioned earlier, WordPress is the best and most widely used blogging site.
The one criticism on the free WordPress blog is that you do not have the “authority”
ranking that makes Google much more likely to put your blog posts on the first page of Google.  This is where the paid communities really shine.
One of the biggest and most active blogging communities is The Empower Network.
Empower Network uses a WordPress based site which gives you that Authority ranking.
This means that you won’t have to spend hours everyday back-linking as the foundations are already there.  So if you are serious about blogging or want to promote your particular products than Empower Network is for you as it certainly the top blogging sites around!
