Stop Living in the Past
If you’ve been following my blogs over the past week you would have known that I am currently house sitting at my Dad’s house.
This is the house I grew up in and a few times I found myself thinking of the past. Some good, probably more bad memories though…
Our family life wasn’t the happiest and because of this as a teenager
I think I didn’t really cope with it very well. Much of my time as a teen was spent drinking and smoking pot, now that I am older I realized that this was more of a way to escape reality instead of dealing with my problems. This is a typical case of living in the past, instead of using these challenges to my advantage and using it for my future, I let them trouble me much more than they had to.
Living in the Past Video:
Our past does not determine our future, if this wasn’t the case there would be no
“rags to riches” story, no disabled person doing something they were told they could never do. People wouldn’t have been able to turn their loves around from drug addiction to then becoming successful.
Stop living in the past, everything that happens to us can be used to our advantage or to our detriment. We can choose to learn from our mistakes or become a victim of life.
Stop Living in the Past “Glory Days”
I think Bruce Springsteen puts it best in his classic song “Glory Days”
Just sitting back trying to recapture a little of the Glory of, well time slips away and leaves you nothing nothing mister but boring stories of Glory Days
If you’ve never actually listened to the words of this song, it’s not actually a positive song on people’s “Glory Days”. The song is about people that he knew that all they did was talk about the “good old days” and never had any new days to talk about.
When you’re living in the past, you can’t focus on the present or the future.
It’s up to you to stop living in the past and work towards the future.
