Back in October, 2012, I had the good fortune to see Rob Fore speak at an event in San Diego, California.
At that event, Rob talked about results: specifically, how to get the results you want now.
It went like this:
Name something you want, something you really want. What do you really want? Is it freedom? The freedom to do what you want, when you want, where you want, with whomever you want, and to have more than enough money to do it all, and take care of all the people that you love and still have MORE left over to practice philanthropy? (That’s what I want.)
Why don’t you have it yet?
Why don’t you have whatever it is you said you wanted?
Lack of time? Lack of money? Lack of effort, or direction? Is it fear of failure? (Or fear of success?) Does it have to do with circumstances or situations?
Whatever it is…OWN it! You allow excuses to hold you back. Nothing – not any of the the above things I listed – nothing is holding you back but you.
You’ve set up unconscious roadblocks. We all have them. They’re disempowering beliefs that we’ve picked up along the way – whether from childhood or some trauma that we’ve suffered – somehow, somewhere we pick up disempowering beliefs that act as unconscious roadblocks.
Ask yourself: When did I give myself permission to live “less than”? And why? Why is it OK with me? When did it become OK with me to live “less than”?
We wear our excuses – all of us – like a security blanket.
What they really stem from is a contradiction of intent, a conflict of intent. It’s like the Bible tells us “Thou shalt not kill,” and then you got to war and are ordered to kill. What do you do with that?
You see, your conscious mind THINKS it is in control, but the reality is that your UNconscious mind is in control.
The job of your unconscious mind is solely to keep you alive and well – physically, spiritually, consciously – the unconscious mind is always looking out for your best interests, despite what your conscious mind says – to keep you alive and out of any and all danger.
That’s it’s job. To keep you alive and out of any and all danger.
It could be real physical danger, spiritual danger, emotional danger…think about it, how much “work” do you do to keep from being embarrassed?
Your unconscious mind has literally stopped paying attention to your conscious mind. You say one thing and the opposite happens: I’m going to lose weight – and you eat junk. I’m going to work this business, and you spend your time goofing off.
Your unconscious mind fired your conscious mind a long time ago. That’s why in January, when you set your New Year’s Resolution, it doesn’t work. Your unconscious mind controls your behavior.
If what you consciously say you want to have conflicts with what you unconsciously know to be true and safe to you – with what you believe – you will never get what you want. Survival will always win, despite what you think, despite what you hope for. You will never win.
Mar consciously wants to lose weight and decides to go on a healthy diet. She does great, and then – out of the blue – Mar pigs out. Self-sabotage? Self-preservation!
Consciously, Mar says that she wants to lose weight, but back when Mar was 5 years old and cute as a button, Uncle Slime Ball Maggot asked her to play hide and go seek and Mar was molested. What she learned was that cute little kids – trim and fit and full of life, get traumatized, they get raped. And so here she is and she starts losing weight, she starts looking good and her brain goes “Danger! Danger!” and she gains the weight back.
If what you consciously want to have or to become is known to be unsafe to your unconscious, you will hit a roadblock.
That’s what happened to Mar; she held a disempowering belief that literally prevented long-term weight loss.
Drunk Driving. From the outside looking in, John looks like an idiot. It looks like self-sabotage. But it’s self-preservation.
John comes from a strict, religious family. They raised him to believe that you can’t serve God and mammon. John’s belief system is so strong that he feels unconsciously that he is at risk of eternal damnation if he earns more than he “should.”
When you find yourself not doing what you should be doing – like not getting started in Empower Network, or not going all in – like not setting an intention or not working your plan…when you find yourself doing what you know you should NOT be doing (learning, learning, learning and not DOING anything) chances are you hit a disempowering belief.
If you want to have success, you need to get over your disempowering beliefs.
Beliefs control behavior. If your unconscious beliefs are holding you back, handle them.
But how can you handle them if you don’t know what they are?
How To Overcome The Hurts, Habits & Hangups That Used To Hold You Back From Achieving What You Really Want In 4 Easy Steps:
1. Pause in the moment.
2. Check for body feelings.
3. Ask for an earlier memory.
4. Flip Your SWITCH.
When you find yourself not doing what you know you should be doing, or doing what you know you should NOT be doing, pause in the moment. Recognize the moment.
Pay attention to what you feel. What do you feel in your body when you become aware of what you are doing? Where in your body do you feel it?
Now ask yourself for an earlier memory. What are you holding onto that is keeping you from doing what you should be doing, or encouraging your to do what you should NOT be doing. Feel the place in your body that the thought brings to surface – is it your stomach? Your head? Take note. And ask for an earlier memory.
Now that you have the memory, it’s time to play SWITCH.
Find a song that makes you want to cry – a real tear-jerker. Put it on and listen to it. And THEN put on a song that makes you happy, that literally makes you want to dance… that’s your SWITCH. Play the song that resonates with the fear or sadness within you as you recall the memory that is holding you back, and then flip the SWITCH and play the song that makes you happy!
Flipping that SWITCH is changing your neurology. You’re literally putting your conscious mind and your unconscious mind back in alignment.
Your trigger is when you find yourself doing what you shouldn’t be doing, or when you find that you’re NOT doing what you SHOULD be doing. That’s your trigger.
When you hit your trigger:
1. Pause in the moment.
2. Check for body feelings.
3. Ask for an earlier memory.
4. Flip Your SWITCH
You might have to work at it for a little while before you get good at recognizing your triggers, but once you do, you’ll find greater (and lasting) ease in everything you do as a result of reprogramming your unconscious and conscious minds to be in alignment!
