Setting Goals With A Purpose
Right now you are promoting your business or product because
You love it and you believe it will help other people…
And you want to make money.
Right?
But before I share with you how to get traffic to your social media sites, build your community, and how to create your own content marketing system.
You need to ask yourself;
What are your sales goals?
What are your customer service goals?
Where do you see yourself 3 years from now in business?
When I started marketing I sure as heck did not ask these questions.
I just jumped right in promoting offline and online to friends and family.
Thinking everyone would buy. And I would make 1000’s of dollars easily.
But that did not happen.
Once I took a step back and realized I never sat down and wrote out my goals. 1 month, 6 month, 1 year or 5 year goals.
So one year flew by and I never really saw a change in my business.
It stayed pretty much the same. Not seeing the results I wanted.
But I had to take a step back and ask myself what was I going for?
What were my sales goals for the year?
What do I want to accomplish with my business?
I never thought about my short-term or long-term goals,
So it makes sense why I did not see the results I wanted in business.
I was not working towards anything and challenging myself.
Looking back on it and if I am honest with myself, I was really doing a lot of busy work.
I spent so much time working on the computer and talking with people that resulted in time wasted.
I was not batching my content.
I was not writing blog posts.
I was not making videos.
I did not have a professional website.
I did not use ads.
Basically everything I saw leaders and major companies doing, I was not doing.
This is why it is so important to set goals for your business.
You want to challenge yourself just enough so you see a growth and results in your business
But not outrages so you get discouraged by your goals.
You should be excited when you think about your goals.
Remember this is you life.
What do you want out of your life?
What do you want to accomplish for yourself and your loved ones?
Why did you start your business in the first place?
Write Them Down – What Are Your Goals?
So you realize that goals motivate and drive you.
But you really have no thoughts flowing through your head on a ton of goals.
And that is okay. I did not write down all my goals at once.
Now the key part is NOT to just to make a list of goals in your head
Or on some random piece of paper that will get stuffed away for later and forgotten about.
Actually go get a notebook that is dedicated to goals.
This way you can write down your goals and look at them daily.
This helps you remember what you are working towards and it motivates you to stay on track.
When I write my goals I like to think of the acronym SMART.
SMART Goals:
Specific: Lay out your goal in detail.
Measurable: How will be able to see the progress of your goal. Set targeted dates.
Attainable: Is this an attainable goal. What do you need to accomplish you goal? Is there something that could be an obstacle?
Relevant: Is it realistic for you to set this goals. Will you actually work towards this goal? Do you believe in this goal?
Time-Based: Set a date when you want to accomplish the goal.
Now Sit down and think of your goals you want to accomplish in your business this month, sixth months and a year from now.
Is it traffic to your social media sites?, Is it building your team?, Or is it creating your website?
What are they?
Now that you have figured out some of your goals lets make sure you
Are productive daily so you reach your goals in a timely manner.
Daily Checklist – Productivity At Its Finest
Whether you are starting out in your business
Or you have been doing it for a couple months or years
It is always important to stay organized.
I understand how easy it is to get overwhelmed with the daily tasks you have to do to run your business.
When I started I did not have a structure for my day to day work.
Sometimes I would write a checklist and other times I would not.
And by the end of the day I never accomplished anything productive that would
Get me closer to my goals.
It was busy work to be honest.
I know we have all been guilty of busy work.
When I discovered Brian Tracy’s audio book.
“21 Great Ways To Manage Your Time And Double Your Productivity-how to get organized, set priorities, save time and get more done faster.”
I learned the ABCDE method that helps me organize my tasks daily.
And everyday I do this method my productivity increased and I actually got stuff done and saw results in my business.
The audio is only one hour long and it is all about increasing your productivity.
I also like to write down in my journal every night. This helps me remember stories and exciting events in my life.
I just got this journal at the beginning of 2017 and love looking back on my memories.
