Writing for Money…

The exact moment when the seed was first planted is unclear, but for most of my adult life I’ve heard, “you should be a writer.”  I have this old newspaper clipping from 2005 about writers turning their blogs into a book. Blogs were just then emerging on the web and I had no idea how or where to start a blog. But, I did know I wanted to begin writing for money – which would allow me to work from home, to be free to travel.  So, whenever someone would tell me I should be a writer, I would smile and nod my head in agreement and then get swept up in the dream …

Picturing a little cottage on a secluded beach where I would live for a year while I write my book . . .

Imagining meeting Oprah when MY book is named as a “MUST READ” by the queen of influence . . .

Visualizing the fantastic increase in income from book sales and a movie deal. . .

Speaking engagements that fill my calendar . . .

Traveling the world as a result of my success . . .

 Writing for money! . . .

Yeah, I dream BIG!

So, how’s it going?

Well, my little secluded cottage is right now a pick-up camper parked on the banks of the Missouri River – not a pristine sunny beach in the South . . .

I DID write an e-book “We Did It – You Can Too!” the story of how we went from living in a 3 bedroom house to a tent to a RV . . .

Oprah HASN’T called, there ISN’T a movie in the works . . .

I had ONE speaking engagement locally – at our church . . .

Traveling – yes; the world – NOT YET . . .

Huh. Guess you just dream too big.

NOPE! NOT EVEN!

Dreams are great – they motivate and inspire – they are a integral part of the road to success.  It doesn’t matter if you’re dreaming of writing for money, dancing on Broadway, selling your paintings, trying out for the baseball team, starting your own business . . . all dreams require gaining knowledge and training about your passion, but at some point, you have to actually BEGIN.

For example, I’ve been actively learning about blogging and how to begin writing for money for a long time. But, I’ve been so totally immersed in the safe world of preparation  – definitely keeping busy – yet, making no forward progress.

Just a few weeks ago, everything changed.

Now, I eagerly write a new post every day!  EVERY SINGLE DAY!

All of a sudden, I AM writing and even better I AM writing for money!

The dream is beginning to unfold. We will be headed South next Fall, I am sure of it!

It is extremely thrilling to see how taking time to write every day expands my mind, my thoughts, my feelings. It is exciting how Empower Network provides the perfect platform for me to begin writing for money. I’m not the only writer who has found the launchpad for their dreams – membership is rapidly growing as others realize it is possible to write for money.
