It’s All a Work-In-Progress…

When you hear the term, work-in-progress, it signifies forward motion, and hope and action, doesn’t it?

Projects on the drawing board, drafts of documents, an unfinished novel, a hand-made quilt, downsizing your possessions . . . all are works – in-progress . . . yet to be completed.

While labeling something as a work-in-progress implies there is progress being made, many times we get stuck in the paralysis of analysis . . . keeping the work from being completed.

If there is any lesson I needed to learn in 2011, it is this . . . you don’t have to get it right, you just have to get it going. Many times, as an entrepreneur, I’ve stalled big time because the design or the video or the blog post isn’t perfect . . . analysis to the nth degree . . . leading to paralysis – nothing gets completed.

We began to learn this lesson a few years ago when we made our first video. After rehearsing my lines over and over, after countless retakes, after hours of taping, we realized we would never get it just right. Finally, we decided the “bloopers” were more important than a perfectly delivered script.

Whenever we watch this, we still get tickled remembering the fun we had, in spite of the frustrations that we kept messing up. Now, another opportunity to apply this lesson has been put before us – this blog that is part of the Empower Network marketing group. I didn’t design it, I haven’t spent hours and hours making it pretty and adding plug-ins or broadcasting my posts to all the hundreds of sources.

It’s all done for me.

What I have done is adopt the rewarding habit of writing daily. It’s been a gift.

It has taken me from being a dreamer/writer who always has a work-in-progress, who always dreams of writing – to posting a finished work every day.

That is HUGE!

Bruce is going through the incredible training provided and every day takes what he learns and applies it to our new blog and our internet marketing business . . . and that is his work-in-progress.

The difference is that he is doing something everyday to take action, apply the knowledge instead of waiting  until he has mastered it.

Just a day at a time . . . baby steps.

It’s January 1, 2012 and we are beginning this new year more determined and more assured that all of the puzzle pieces are finally falling into place. We’ve spent the last few years buried in training, trying and testing . . . after failures and frustrations and frenzy . . . now we are seeing success and are ready to SOAR.
