A good Internet Entrepreneur knows how to solve people’s problems, or relieve their pain. But before you write anything, you need to figure out what those pains are. Then, you either provide value to help them, or you present your offer as a solution.
Your sales copy needs to be written with your customer in mind. Put your content in their language. What do they want to hear?
Internet Entrepreneur’s 5 Secrets
When trying to unearth your prospect’s pain, think of what you can do to foster an emotion in them. Here are five ways to engage your audience with your copy.
1. Problems
What are they experiencing today? Why are they online searching? What keeps them up at night?
2. Repurpose existing materials
If you’re new to copywriting and just don’t have your own style yet, then look at other people’s work. Take ideas from them, or just rewrite it in your own words.
It’s okay to borrow other people’s material this way, but you can’t just copy them word for word. Copying verbatim is plagiarism and is a criminal offense. Just don’t do it. Put them into your own language and for your audience.
3. Why do people buy
This list of reasons will suit just about anybody, no matter what you are selling. They are going to be looking for a product or service to:
– eliminate pain
– improve health
– save time
– make money
– save money
– increase pleasure
– save effort
– save time
Often, you can combine more than one reason into your offer or solution.
4. Uncover their Envy
More often than we know, people are motivated to buy things because of envy. In your copywriting, you can approach this angle in three different ways.
What you are envious of? And is that why you bought the program or product you are trying to sell to them?
What are they envious of? Someone with a nicer car or house? Someone who works at home and has time to do other things? People who dress better?
What will make other people envious of them? Your friends will envy you for looking so great after going through the Crazy-But-True Weight Loss System.
5. Longer copy needs the rule of 7
You won’t be able to do to this with just text ads or Facebook posts, but when you are working on sales letters, webinars, you need to incorporate seven.
7 examples
7 case studies
7 stories
People are looking for proof, so this is a good way to drive your message home. People want to imagine themselves using your product.
