A Moment of Clarity For This Internet Entrepreneur

It’s great to be an Internet Entrepreneur. Having my own business and working from home is so gratifying. But, every now and then, I gotta get out of the house.

So, I took a mini road trip to Vancouver.

Only a few hours away, I had a moment of clarity. Some things I needed to do for my business just became so obvious – like an epiphany.

The Internet Entrepreneur Gets Out of Town

I live on Vancouver Island. It’s not a tiny little island you’d find on a lake. It’s huge. I’m not sure of the actual size, but it would take you seven hours to drive from one end to the other. There are a couple of small cities and several large towns and many rural and wilderness areas. Not to mention all the seaside escapes.

I live in a quiet, semi-rural neighbourhood near a marina. The closest town is full of mostly seniors and services to support them, with a few interesting shops and restaurants scattered about.

After being on the island for several months, I decided it was time to head over to Vancouver. I wanted to expose myself to the vibe of the big city, and to hook up with some old friends.

The Internet Entrepreneur Is a Keen Observer

Vancouver is a two-hour ferry ride from the island. Surrounded by mountains on one side, and the ocean on the other, it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Like any big city, there is an energy everywhere and a mix of cultures, and people of all social and economic status seemingly living in harmony.

• ethnic restaurants and quirky shops
• record stores and head shops
• Aston Martins driving beside old beaters
• D&G, Chanel and bohemian boutiques
• day spas and tea emporiums
• drug and abuse treatment centres
• skiing, boating, golfing
• music clubs and casinos

It’s loaded with things to do or places to explore.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my island – I don’t have to pay for parking , but this trip to the city has awakened my senses, my thought process.

Internet Entrepreneurs Shake Things Up

Just on the ferry ride to Vancouver, my mind opened up. I could see the path I needed to take in my business. I decided to stop doing certain things. I had a vision about what direction I needed to take to further build my business. And, I reaffirmed my goals and visualized my dreams, all before I even landed in Vancouver.

When I met my old buddies and told them that I was now an internet entrepreneur, I was able to clearly weave my new vision into the dialogue, and my plan developed as I spoke.

And when I get on the ferry today for another two-hour sailing, I will be able to dig deeper into my epiphany and really nail down what steps I need to take.

Are You a Motivated Internet Entrepreneur?

When working at home, I can get bogged down in what seems to be routine technical things or tasks. Writing and training. Helping prospects. Research and tracking. Talking with mentors.

Day to day things are important, but sometimes you need to step back and look at things from a higher level.

What is your ultimate goal?

What are your dreams?

Why are you doing this?

How can you make it happen?

How can you do things differently.

Take a break from your routine. I mean really take a break.
Do something out of the ordinary. Do something by yourself.

Go to a gallery. Go to the zoo. Go for a boat ride or a bike ride in the park.
If you live in the country, head to the city. If you live in the city, get out to the country.

Just go somewhere where your senses are stimulated in a different way and you can clear your head. But you have to go by yourself.
