6 Action Tips to charge through unpredictability and chaos in business and in your life.
Unpredictable Weather in Florida and Working From Home – How to approach chaos in business.
The weather in Florida can be bipolar! There have been beautiful blue skies and it was raining, or like in the video, half calm like a serene blue sea, and half tumultuously maniacal with thunder and rain… and that pretty much how life is, right?
Life can have multiple conditions to it all at the same time; sometimes it can be exiting and scary, others times it can be stressful but productive, and sometimes it’s just confusing and overwhelming. And it’s just the same with running a business, especially a home based business. The probability of experiencing chaos in business is very high if you don’t know how to approach unpredictability in a productive way.
In knowing this you are granted the knowledge, power, and the advantage of maintaining control of your response when you have no control of life’s frenzy. There are a few tips that have helped myself, and others, persevere through times of unpredictability and chaotic conditions, and I believe that you will find them quite helpful if you put them to practice every day.
Here are some tips to charge through various “weather conditions” of unpredictability in life and chaos in business:
Embrace unpredictability – Be in a state of allowing.
The universe operates from a state of constant change. When we allow ourselves to “let go” of what we think may happen, or how we think that things should be, we automatically are in a place of allowing. A state of allowing is one in which there is no resistance to what is… be it your current situation, someone’s opinion, or even an unexpected result. In this state of allowing, when we ask ourselves “what can I learn here?” and allow for the answers to keep flooding in, find the answers that are the most positive and productive, and implement the lessons. When we practice this we continually gain from any and all of life’s experiences.
Begin with the end in mind: have clearly defined goals and objectives in all that you do.
As Stephen Covey shares in his world-class book “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”, in order to effectively execute and achieve your goals you need to understand what exactly your desired outcome is – have clearly defined goals and objectives. Moving forward with this knowing you make relevant decisions and have a specified direction in the actions that you take. Many people do not take this into account and never Completely achieve their “goals” because their goals where never clarified to begin with. Be sure that you always begin with the end in mind, have clearly defined goals and objectives, and you will move miles ahead of the rest.
Take massive action! Talking vs. Doing
Many people, including myself, have fallen victim to talking rather than doing sometime in their personal life and career. When someone says they will do something, some will take action, and some won’t, and the people who don’t take action tend to confuse the declaration that they’re going to do something as the action itself! Psychologically people who tend to not walk their talk are in a place of accepting what they say they’re going to do subconsciously as if they’ve actually done the task. That’s why the “fake it ’till you make it” theory usually doesn’t work, and it can become a huge factor that leads to a state of chaos in business.
It is good to know where you are going and make declarations and affirmations such as “It is (future date) and I have achieved (your goal)”. Be extremely detailed when writing these future-present-tense affirmations and be vivid. But if you just say something like “I am currently a multi-millionaire and have achieved all the goals I have ever set forth for myself” and those things are Not true, you’re doing a couple of things wrong.
First, you’re lying so it will make it hard to subconsciously embrace your vision of your goals being achieved. Secondly, if you actually Do accept these beliefs subconsciously you have now confused a goal with the present, and may negatively impact your productivity and the attainment of your goals. Don’t talk about doing something, just Do it. Actions speak louder than words.
Be consistent and stay consistent.
What good is starting something you don’t continually work toward sustaining or completing? That would be a waste of time, energy, and effort, and it gives off an impression of undependability. This is similar to an impression that a Talker gives, but it’s like a Talker that starts something, and never follows through. If you follow the same concepts outlined in the previous tip about Doing, and you just Do consistently, you will be working toward a powerful fulfillment of the goals and aspirations you have ahead of you.
Clearly defined goals and objectives: Reflect, request specific feedback, and implement small tweaks along the way.
It is important that you have clearly defined goals and objectives. Reflect on your intentions regularly, consistently remind yourself of your desired outcome. Maybe set a daily alarm to sit down and write down or read over your goals and intentions for the day, the week, the month, and the years to come. Consistently reminding yourself of where you want to be will make it easier to work with the end in mind, and eventually you will be able to make very quick decisions in any situation that will be in alignment with your intentions.
Finding a mentor is very important, someone who has achieved or attained what it is that you want for yourself. They have already been through the process and the trials and tribulations that may be involved in your journey, so why not learn from their mistakes and successes? Start building relationships with people that can uplift you and facilitate your journey toward the accomplishment of your goals, and be sure to ask for feedback along the way. This will greatly reduce the chance of finding yourself in a state of chaos in business, and in your life.
You don’t just want a pat on the back, or a “well, it could be better” statement. You want to ask for, and be open to receive, Specific positive and critical feedback. Knowing what you’re doing right, and what you can improve upon, grants you access to your tools for creating success, and what specifically to improve upon or avoid in the future! Make sure that you take action with this feedback though or you will not being doing any justice to yourself or for your mentor(s).
Always think win-win and give value.
I have come to learn and accept a theory shared with me by successful people – we live in an abundant universe, there is always more than enough to go around. Always know that whatever your dreams and goals are, you can definitely achieve it. As long as you start working on your mindset and belief in yourself, and continually stride toward your goals, you will attract the knowledge, tools, people, resources, and situations that you need along the way. There are a couple of very key factors that you should keep in mind and always practice: Think win-win, and always give value.
In the process of thinking win-win, you are immediately working towards giving value to others, and yourself, and when you give value, you attract loyalty and trust. Thinking win-win means to always work toward taking action and finding solutions in a way where it most benefits you and everyone else who will be affected by the outcome of your decision as well.
When thinking win-win you are always seeking the best possible solution in any given situation, and when others see that you have their best interest in mind as well you will gain the effort and energy of those people. This makes problem solving easier with a lot more potential for success, because we all know that more minds are greater than one, especially when they are all focused on one cause.
