Looking Through The Fuzzy Window To Building Your Online Business

Are you struggling in building your online business?  Thought it was going to be easy but instead you are frustrated and still broke?

Most people that get started with their online business are looking through a fuzzy window.  You can see other people having success but you’re still peering through that window trying to figure it all out.

The first day I got started, I remember I was so excited, but also wondering…trying to figure out how in the world was I going to make my first sale?!  Even though I had some experience with social media sites I didn’t know anything about online marketing.  For most people, they would quit at this point.

Not me…I knew I wanted to change my life and not go back to working for someone else or returning to be that corporate robot I use to be.  I wanted a different quality of life for me and my husband, to travel and do things on a whim, not having to beg for time off from a boss that didn’t care.

So I decided I was going to learn this no matter what!

First things first….have a GOOD COMPUTER!

This may sound odd, except I learned that having the RIGHT tools for your online business is really important.  I run into so many people that struggle building their online business only to find that their computer is a decade old, takes too much time to load pages or doesn’t even play any of the training videos they need in order to learn the marketing skills for their business.

That means… go out and buy a new computer!

Today, computers are very affordable with options to make payments or you can even rent to own (that is an idea I share with new team members all the time and it works!)

Look, my husband is a tile contractor and he couldn’t continue to build his business without having a tile saw!

So having the right equipment for building your online business is key and will make that fuzzy window just a bit clearer!

NEXT….

Decide whether you are going to produce and sell your own products or sell other peoples products.

I was confused about this at the beginning.  When I first started looking to build a business online, even before I left my corporate job, I kept running into online guru’s and their message was always telling me that I had to have my own product.  At that point I created a product, inspirational charms that I would build a business, but mostly offline, which wasn’t what I really wanted.  Plus, creating and having your own product took a lot of time, money and a ton of work!

I was looking to have a more freedom lifestyle, not to have just another job on the internet.

So I looked into affiliate marketing.  You may have heard of Clickbank or JVZoo or even CJ Affiliate (formly Commission Junction) which are all platforms where you can find other peoples products that you can become an affiliate and sell.  The problem was, I didn’t know ‘how to’ sell on the internet!  So I struggled to make any sales and at this point was finding my quest of building an online business questionable.

I started looking …not really sure what I was looking for.

It would have to be more of a system that I could plug into which had all the marketing structure built into it.  During this time I was learning bits and pieces of building a business online like creating an autoresponder, making capture pages, how to do ads and even started to learn about blogging.

Frustrated ….and totally feeling like I was going to have to live the rest of my life working 9 to 5, getting up at the same time, taking our son to daycare, spending time away from my family and doing it all over again and again with no real purpose.  I didn’t enjoy what I was doing, it wasn’t my passion and certainly kept me chained to a desk, phone and complaining coworkers.

THEN I SAW THE VIDEO

.
This is going to sound crazy but it happened.

I can’t remember how I got this link, but it took me to a video.  The video was 45 minutes long and I watched and listened to every minute of it!  Why?

The crazy long haired guy running around on a beach in his trunks….spoke to me.

That was me!

He talked about his struggles of over 6 years and he finally found how having the right system, vision, and community was going to change my life just like it was doing for him.  I was relating to everything he was saying.  Building your online business didn’t have to be difficult, but instead it required following a few core commitments and never giving up.

I was inspired and motivated to see that fuzzy window was now becoming much clearer.

There is a certain way to think, a certain way to believe and a certain way to do the things that would give me the success and the freedom lifestyle I was looking for…. I got on board!

After running downstairs and showing my husband the video (actually, he only watched the first 5 minutes!) he could see and feel my excitement and believed enough in me that he was on board too, starting a new journey.  My husband was supportive and that was all I needed to get going and take action.

Now here’s the cool thing….

Not only did I finally find something that I didn’t have to create a product, didn’t have to create the marketing system and could do everything from my computer…but I also found a community.  The people I met and learned from all have similar goals and dreams.

It isn’t just about the money.  SURE….We need money to pay our bills, our car payment, mortgage and pay down our debt.

Instead it’s more about the ‘freedom’ that money gives you…to do what you want, how you want, when you want.

I was learning things that I wish I knew 20 years ago!

Because when you can earn a living AND live the life you want…now THAT was what I was looking for and apparently tens of thousands of other people were too!

Today the window is very clear, my vision, intention and purpose are more clear than they ever have been, but I’m still learning and growing, which you have to do in order to live your passion.  But it doesn’t have to be a job, working for someone else, you have a choice.

The choice is yours to make.

So if you are still looking into that window and the window is still fuzzy…then you haven’t made a decision.  You haven’t really decided what you want.

Some people are very happy working their 9 to 5 job or career, and that is great because you know what you want.

But then there are people, like me, maybe like you….. that is working a corporate job, working at a desk or night shift that want’s a different life.  Maybe you have heard about people making money online, working from home and that is what you want.

It really does start with a simple decision.

After that, make the commitment to your purpose, your vision and have the intent to win!

We only live one life, so why not live it the way you really want to?

So the moral of this story? (thought I should kind of wrap things up!) ….if you are struggling with your building your online business, take a moment and really be honest with yourself.  Have you decided what it is you really want?  Do you want to change from an employee mindset to an entrepreneur lifestyle?

Most cases, people jump into things that they really are not passionate about, they don’t know why or if it is what they really want.

One thing I can promise you…once you make that decision and you decide to build your online business, your journey will never be the same, it will be more exciting because it will be your passion, your vision and the reason why you want to live life on your terms!

I invite you to see why I’m so passionate about building my online business with people like you because of this system, vision and community believing we all can succeed, and it’s just a matter of making that decision and having the intent to win!

Watch this video all the way until the end, just like I did, so you can once and for all get rid of that fuzzy window, get clear on what you want and be a part of this community to help you live life on your terms!

  1. Great post Lynn. I can’t think of anyone who doesn’t go through this process. Getting online is a process. You have to go through that “confused” phase of “what the heck is all this stuff I see people doing”? Then you learn a little bit to become dangerous but with so many options to choose from we’re soon our worst enemy jumping all over the place to this opportunity, that product, another opportunity, etc. The key is to do what you did and settle on the one place you feel like “home” with and then just promote, promote, promote until the job’s done!

  2. Great post Lynn, very inspiring. You can get past the fuzzy window and build a business online. It is possible. Thanks for sharing.
