Build A List
It is arguably one of the most valuable things you can do when it comes to blogging and marketing online. Build a list for your business means collecting emails from contacts interested in your offer, opportunity or information.
For years I have been hearing about the importance of building an email list, but it was not until recently that I finally understood the power of having one integrated with my blog and marketing efforts. It has easily become my biggest asset, allowing me to have the opportunity to communicate and share one on one with these contacts and finding a way to do this hard work and follow-up done automatically.
Once you build a list of people who are interested in receiving information from you, purchased from you, or becoming your clients, you have a turnkey marketing channel setup that is ready anytime that you need it. Except… not so fast! You see, collecting emails and building your list is the first step. Next, connecting with the people on your list is critical for building your business success.
Your list is made up of contacts, and each contact is a real person behind that email address. They will be much more responsive and ready to accept your further communications, when you share information that is helpful and not a constant sales pitch.
Build A List for Forever
Whenever you roll out a new product, service, offer, or news item, you can seamlessly send it to your list and you’re almost guaranteed to get the response you’re looking for. As long as you stay true to value and trust, your list can make you a fortune.
If you are an online marketer like me, your list is easily your best source of new customers and potential business partners. People want to work with and buy from people they know, like, and already trust.
Once I learned this to be true, it completely changed how I did business. I immediately became more open about sharing everything I knew about being successful online with anyone who was interested. As it turns out, the more I share and help others to be successful online, the more successful I become. It turns out the phrase “the more you give, the more you receive” really is true.
So, how do you build a list?
While it may seem like an easy task, some marketers and business owners seem to get it wrong when it comes time to build a list. Think about how you have gotten onto other people’s email list. For example, how many times have you shopped and at check out the sales person is asking if they can send you information on their next sale… boom, you are ready to give you email when it comes to more savings. Am I right?
This same mentality should be brought into your online marketing and business. Giving value in return for someone online to pop in their email address either on your blog, offer or sales page is a good start. But in today’s highly competitive market place, standing out from the crowd affords a better chance to build a list and keep them coming back. So don’t overlook being creative, fun and even odd to catch their attention and grab their information.
Build A List – Now Organize It
New online marketers and business owners try to cut corners and costs by keeping their contacts on their computer. Either through an online software or in some cases, manually. If you are serious about growing your business and having a profitable one, I would recommend that you use a list management service or what you might also know it as an autoresponder.
There are several reputable Internet companies that offer list management services. The way it works is simple; first, you login to our list account, setup a new list, and write any messages you want your subscribers to receive. Then you choose the intervals that the messages are delivered.
Scheduling messages to go out for special events and holidays takes initial setup, but then some list management sites offer a scheduler that can be ongoing for year ahead.
From here, you can create an opt-in form to be installed on your blog. Capturing leads, contacts and emails on your blog is an indication they are very interested in what you are sharing. So don’t lose that opportunity, be sure to have an optin form on the top area of any site or blog.
You can accomplish this by pasting the bit of code that the list management service provides you wherever you would like it to appear on your website. Once it is in place, anybody who submits their name and email address will automatically be added to your list, and will automatically receive your automated messages. From here, you can login to your list anytime you want and send your followers any message you desire. This is called an email blast. Emailing your list regularly will be the best marketing task you must consider and enact. If you are not in their email box, then someone else is!
The service that I use and recommend to help you build a list, AWeber. It offers ample examples and training on how to use it. Tons of templates or you can make your own to include your custom logo or header. Build a list and win!
