Working 9 to 5, what a way to make a living, barley getting by, it’s a taking and no giving, they just use your mind, and they never give you credit, its enough to drive you crazy if you let it!

Hmmm, seems Dolly knew something way back when she wrote and recorded ‘9 to 5′ Grammy-winning song!

“They let you dream, just to watch them shatter, your just a step on the boss man’s ladder, but you got dreams he will never take away.”

Isn’t that the truth…especially if you are in a corporate job or any job that you are wanting a promotion. You know you have the skills, knowledge and ability but always seems to be an excuse of why the promotions never come. I remember those days and it was so stressful, took away my excitment for working each day and wondering why I kept hanging in there.

Imagine working for yourself, doing things that you are passionate about, things you believe in, that you can help others and live a more freedom lifestyle. Back in those days when Dolly Parton was signing that song, there didn’t seem to be many choices. But today, with network marketing, online internet business, direct sales and MLM’s have open the doors for people that feel trapped in a 9 to 5 job to have the choice of becoming and acheiving your dreams for success as an online entreprenuer.

9 to 5, they got you where they want to, theres a better life, you think that I would daunt you, its a rich mans game, no matter what they call it, and you spend your life, putting money in his wallet.”

.
Another profound lyric since working 9 to 5 is contributing to someone else’s dream instead of your own. Now I know we need ‘workers’ and we need professionals, but then there are people like me… maybe like you.

Life for us is more than a paycheck, communting bumper to bumper and having to put your children in child care. Living life has different meanings to each of us but it all comes back to bringing awareness to the fact we have choices.

.
Sharing Dolly’s video/song is a way to bring what she wrote in that song meaning to today’s employee, today’s mom and dad’s and to the people that are working paycheck to paycheck, looking out from their cubicle or the window from their office wondering….is this what life is all about?

I use this blog as a way to share my thoughts, my experience of living a more freedom lifestyle because I made a decision more than 4 years ago to get out of my corporate robot job and live life on my terms.  Now I help others to do the same.  Because you have that choice too and should know that there are hundred’s of thousands of people that you can connect with, be a part of a community, a team and feel a part of a movement.

Our dreams are our decision and when we act upon that, it is when you will reach those goals and live life on your terms.

  1. Classic movie and song! One of our all time favs! That message is so true and have been there myself. I remember so many countless hours of working overtime, traveling, and even bringing work home with me at night on and on the weekends to do spreadsheets or organize things hoping they would see I was going the extra mile, only to be tossed aside once my health (from being stressed, overworked, and pulled a thousand directions at once) caused an issue for them.
Everyone kissing up, gossip, backstabbing each other, and clawing their way to the top… yah, don’t miss is AT ALL!
SO elated to have found a better way. Working from home with my loving husband and choosing to work with only positive people, doing what we love, when we want, from where we want is the only way for us and we know you feel the same way Lynn. Freedom Rules!
Thank you for sharing this fun and empowering post to show others what’s possible when you make a decision.

  2. Love this blog.. Dolly is one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITES… I have all her recordings and the movie 9 to 5… I have watched it many times… an absolute must watch. Thanks for sharing!

  3. My husband worked at the Hotel Bel-Air where she was staying..she used to flirt with him and roll her limo window down a few inches and wave to him with her long fingernails…he talks about her daily..hehe Great post..I can’t relate to a 9-5 job..never have..never will.

  4. Yeah….it is more like 8 to 6 NOW…LOL…just follow the crowd….MOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! NOT Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  5. Yes I do feel the same way for sure Felicia! And you shared the same things that I went through especially the health issues because of stress. It seemed every year I was sick at least twice, with double lung pneumonia, walking pneumonia, strep throat several times and the flu. The doctor always told me to slow down! but of course the corporate job said they wanted more!
I’m glad to have learned that there were other choices, so I also enjoy this freedom lifestyle and making income online with positive people as you mention Felicia. So glad to be a part of community that support each other, I think that is the best part of our online business. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful insight and comments!

  6. Oh very cool Bill, yes, she is an amazing woman. Thank you for sharing your comments.

  7. Well glad you haven’t had to experience the 9 to 5 Gail, living life your way! And that is so cool that your husband got to meet Dolly in person. I think she would be such an interesting person to meet and talk to. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Gail.

  8. lol, yes, those were the hours I kept and had to leave by 6 to be sure to get our son from daycare, otherwise I’d probably be at work even later. So I’m glad to have excaped the corporate job. And inspiring others to see there are different choices. Thanks for your comments Chris!

  9. Hi Lynn
Love Dolly, I brewed up with her movies and music.
It’s awesome to think that this song is Exaclly what we are looking for to escape, and still so many dosent even realise. Many people never really listen to songs. I to did realise that for many years I just heard the music and rythem and not really what the text and moral was.. (Maybe also coz English is not my main). Awesome post, love that you used music with content. Thanks for always being inspiring.
    Xo Charlotte
