Are you currently working online, building a business or thinking about jumping into the work from home business opportunity?  Well I say go for it!

BUT…this is also a reminder to put down the computer to enjoy living life while building that online business.

Today was our travel adventure.  At least that is what my husband and I are calling it!  We decided once I began my online home business the purpose was to create ongoing income to building our retirement and wealth account, but to also enjoy life at the same time.

Foggy Afternoon at Avila Beach, CA

The problem I found in growing my online business is the amount of time I spend on the computer and my smart phone!  Lots of hours on training webinars, hangouts with my team, company webcasts, blogging, participating in groups and building connections on the social sites.  These are all things that are necessary to build a solid foundation for any online business.

But don’t let that take away from living your life!

Taking a break and enjoying your life is one of the reasons for building an online business, becoming an entrepreneur to have that freedom lifestyle.  I wanted to get out of the 9 to 5 grind and stop being a corporate robot.  It should be something that you remind yourself as well.  If you got into this business to just make money, then I would revisit your purpose, the reason why you are working on becoming a successful entrepreneur.  Because I bet it is more than just for the money.

Today as we headed out to Avila Beach, California near our home it felt exciting to be getting away from the computer, the emails, the messages and hangouts and to enjoy some time watching the waves on the pier, shopping and eating fresh fish tacos while listening to some evening music.  We had a ball!

It’s about having the freedom to do what you want, when you want…RIGHT?

Too many people are living like robots.  I should know because I was one of them!  Getting up at the same time every morning, dreading the commute, taking kids to day care, working for a boss, taking lunch at a certain time, rushing to get back on time and to leave only to battle the traffic once again until reaching home, making dinner, plop in front of the ‘boob tube’, go to bed and start the same thing over the next day.

Then when Friday night hit it was like people went crazy.  Going to bars, night clubs, parties, drinking, dancing and staying up all night because you could ‘sleep in’ on Saturday morning.  But then the weekend was either you did your laundry and other chores or you squeezed in some family time, maybe going on a picnic, visiting friends for a BBQ making sure if it was on Sunday that you didn’t stay out too late because you had to be at work early Monday morning.  Ugghh…. I remember those days.

Now some people think that building an online business, working online is just like a job.  And to some degree it can be that way.  Unless you treat it like a real business, be your own boss, do the things to keep your business working for you so you have the time to get out and live your life!

There is always that balance between developing and growing as an entrepreneur, working hard to have the income and lifestyle you dream of.  But at the same time, let’s not forget that it is the ‘lifestyle’ most of us are wanting.  The freedom to live life our own way.  To get up in the morning when we want, to work for ourselves, making the business decisions and earning income based on our work.

Taking a break and getting away from that computer will also help to revitalize yourself, your brain and rejuvenate your creativity.  It’s actually a great way to stay positive, refreshed and to renew even if it is for a few hours or for a couple of days.

So if you are an upcoming entrepreneur, working hard to reach your goals and dreams…. I hope that this is a reminder to take a minute and realize why you got started building your online business in the first place.  Then give yourself permission to put down the computer, build your business while living your life!

Empower your success….while living your life!

  1. “Ugghh…. I remember those days” That statement perfectly explains the sentiment of how I used to feel as a workaholic.
I loved how you captured that feeling.

  2. Great post Lynn! I especially liked where you said making the “business decisions and earning income based on our work.” So many times when working a job, people work much harder than they are paid. With what we do our pay shows how much we worked for sure! Nice!!

  3. Yes I agree Kimberly, instead of changing our goverment for equal pay to women, anyone can earn what they are worth, being rewarded based on their work, is what network marketing, building a business online is all about. Appreciate you sharing your insight on this.

  4. Love your article! So true, comes Friday evening, every body is looking for pleasurable things to do. why not the other days ?:)

  5. Lynn this is so point on, that we get caught up on all the traing materials that we have at are finger tips and we just want and try to go through it all before we actually implement anything.
And yes i was guilty of this sometime ago until i just settled on one strategy and learned that strategy and then implemented the rule of learn do and teach, then move on to the next training.

  6. Good to hear that John, and I know that you are working hard to reach your goals, take that break every now and then and will see you on the next training! lol

  7. What a FUN post Lynn! Yes, we remember those days of the old corporate world life or “JOB”, but thankfully we got out like you. You hit the nail on the head that yes, you have treat your business like a business, but at the same time.. make sure you are LIVING life and having fun too. Lifestyle and freedom is what it’s all about, so this is great to see you doing just that. Gorgeous pics and video too. So happy for you! Well deserved for sure. 🙂
