If I asked you to finish that sentence how would you finish it?
Life is …
A very famous line comes to mind from the heart warming movie Forrest Gump.
Life is like a box of chocolates … you never know what you’re going to get.
But how would YOU finish that sentence?
I asked the same question on Facebook and received some powerful answers …
It’s interesting to note that all of these answers come from people with great dreams who believe that the pain of going after their dreams is worth it … compared to the alternatives.
My heart is heavy knowing that for some people, the pain of going after their dreams is too much to bear … that it’s simply easier to give up and go back to living a life of mediocrity.
Somehow it seems easier to live with the numbness of existing in an average life than it is to live with the anxious yearning that comes with pursuing something far greater.
We were all born with unlimited potential.
At what point did we talk ourselves out of that potential?
Did someone tell us we were stupid?
Did someone laugh at us for dreaming big dreams?
Did someone tell us to “Get real”?
Did someone say to us, “You can’t do that!” and we believed them?
At what point did you decide that you weren’t worthy of going after your dreams?
At what point did you steal your own dreams away from you?
It’s bad enough that you let others steal your dreams … but at what point did you steal them from you too?
And worst of all … when did you give up on you?
Yes … I’m talking to YOU.
When did you give up on you???
My husband and I decided nearly two years ago to quit our so-called “safe” job and build a home based business. We had no clue what we were doing, and after a few months of flailing in many directions it became apparent to those close to us that we had no clue what we were doing either.
We were told to “Get Real!” and “Go and get a real job!”
And I’ll be honest with you … at times I wondered if it really would be so bad to have a “normal” job, with a regular paycheck coming in … so-called “security”.
But each time I actually went through the visualization of seeing my life at the mercy of an employer, having someone tell me what to do and when to do it … I got so freaking MAD!!!
And it was my ANGER that drove me on.
It was my anger at the unfairness of it all that drove me to get up at god awful hours of the morning looking online for answers.
It was my anger that drove me to just keep searching and searching and searching … searching UNTIL …
… UNTIL WHAT???
UNTIL I found the answer.
And then when I found the answer, it was our joint determination to make it work no matter what that got us to where we are today.
I’ll tell you right now … it wasn’t a bed of roses.
But in hindsight … the PAIN of moving forward was far less than the pain of going backwards.
So let me ask you these questions …
