Is There Scientific Proof We Are Capable of Healing Ourselves?

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Is the Human Mind Capable of Healing The Body?

Whether or not you believe that your mind has healing powers, sufficient enough to heal your body is irrelevant for listening to this episode. I simply want you to know that this is some interesting (and scientific) information and when you finish watching the video you can take from it what you like.

Lissa Rankin, MD explores the scientific literature, reviewing case studies of spontaneous remission, as well as placebo and nocebo effect data, to prove that our thoughts powerfully affect our physiology when we believe we can get well.

Her book, Mind Over Medicine – Scientific Proof that You Can Heal Yourself, is extremely interesting and well worth picking up a copy.

Healing For The Next Generation

HealingLissa Rankin practiced as an OB/GYN physician for eight years, then started a mind-body medicine practice before leaving clinical medicine in 2010 to follow her dream to begin healing the health care system.

In 2009, she founded the community blog OwningPink.com, where over 40 inspiring bloggers write about various healing technologies. Covering everything from how to be healthy in your relationships, your professional life, your spiritual life, your creative life, your sex life, your financial life, your physical and mental health, and more.

In 2012, she moved her personal blog to LissaRankin.com, where she blogs about living and loving fearlessly, healing our health care system, and pretty much anything else she feels like writing about.

In 2013, her team launched the Whole Health Medicine Institute to train doctors (and in 2014, nurses, alternative and other health care providers, and life coaches) about mind-body medicine. Faculty members include Martha Beck, Christiane Northrup, Bernie Siegel, Larry Dossey, Bruce Lipton, Bridgette Boudreau, Steve Sisgold, and Jon Rasmussen.

In 2013, we also launched HealHealthCareNow.com, where those as passionate about healing health care as she is can unite and let their freak flags fly.
