Quit Being A Slave to Your Job, Your Boss and Your Life

“Why you are smarter on the weekend”  – article from LinkedIn. So, why can’t you be smarter every day and quit being a slave to your job, your boss and your life?

The following are excerpts from an article I read in “LinkedIn Today” this morning titled “Why you are smarter on the weekend” by Bruce Kasanoff –

At the end of the week, do you ever feel like you are waking up from a crazy dream? Do things suddenly start to make sense again? Maybe it’s because you finally get to do what you want, instead of what someone else wants you to do..

Over the weekend, you get to spend time on what you love. But on Monday morning, don’t be surprised to find someone in your office who scolds you like a child, because you filled out your expense report incorrectly.

People act stupid to get money. Like me, you need money to eat, clothe your family, and send your kids to school. So when you see the new vice president, you can’t tell him that you only read the first paragraph of his “inspirational” memo entitled “My Vision for the Company”. Instead, you might tell him that you agree with Ken (who immediately sent a suck up “this is genius!” email to the VP and everyone else in the firm.) 30 others did the same. But the problem is that almost no one read the entire memo, and literally no one understands it, including the VP himself, who had a consultant write most of it.

Sadly, this is the reality of corporate life: business can make us act dumb, because it involves us in so many situations that deaden our intelligence… like having to report to three different people at the same time, and who have three different opinions… or not being able to understand which one is responsible for paying you (un)fairly.

So my question is:

“If  you truly are smarter when you are away from the influence and control of others and can think, plan and act for yourself, why on earth wouldn’t you want to be smarter 7 days a week and take control of your own destiny?”

One thing so many people fail to understand and embrace in life is that they CAN and SHOULD be in control of their own lives and their future and that we all have the right to dream big and embrace our own “pursuit of happiness”.

Don’t let anyone or anything put the shackles on you and dictate who, what, where and why you should be. Sadly, it is becoming more and more evident that are living in a “dumbed down”, controlled society and the Big Boys and Girls upstairs have us just where they want us.

We are taught to go to school, get a (controlled) education, get a (controlled) job, work your way up the (controlled) corporate ladder, save for your (controlled) retirement and live the rest of your (controlled) days doing whatever you want!

It absolutely confounds me to think that anyone could possibility buy into believing that this is what the journey in our “pursuit of happiness” should look like.

And I’m not buying it, folks. Because that is not who or what all of us were destined to become.

I wrote this a while back and posted it on my Image Board, where I can look at it every day. This is what got me thinking, dreaming and taking action to make a drastic change in my life. This was the beginning of my “Journey of Possibilities”.

Be clear on your goals, understand your WHY, be open minded to possibilities, adaptable to new ideas and a new way of thinking, ever persistent in your endeavors to reach your end goals and be present on the journey to get to wherever you desire to go in life.

Where am I today? FREE. Free to live where  I want, do what I want, work when I want and answer to no-one but myself (and my hubby of 30 years, of course).

So I encourage you to take this advice to heart. Send me an email. Tell me what your goals are, what you WHY is, what you want your journey to look like and I’ll help you get started and map your journey out.

Freedom is just on the other side of this button!
