Somebody willing to publish a post called the awful truth about his own industry is worth a few minutes. Yamil Senior does exactly that, unpicks how the desire to gain and the fear of loss get used to sell opportunities, and asks in another piece whether the company he works with is simply hype.
He is equally direct about method. A guide to conversion goals in analytics gets written for people who have never opened the reports. Black hat techniques get described so you recognise them, not so you copy them. One post argues that being less available makes you more attractive to a market, which is uncomfortable and probably right.
Music and sport take up real space. There is a piece on playing salsa the way a native player would, another on choosing a drum kit for the sound you actually want, and a run on the Steelers that assumes you care.
Read the industry criticism first. It tells you how much to trust the rest, which turns out to be quite a lot.
