There has been a lot of awareness lately as to what stress, depression and anxiety can physically do to our bodies, but can depression make you sick? As it turns out yes it can.
I was reading this excellent book called “Anatomy of the Spirit“, and in it the author Caroline Myss, PH.D. explains how she developed an intuition that lets her know when a person is ill by just looking at them por periods of time. Some people might find this ludicrous but we do have the capacity to read other peoples energy, I know because I can do it, not to that extent but when I meet someone for the first time I can tell what kind of person they are by talking to them for a few minutes.
And I’m normaly right.
Here is a part of the book I thought I should share with you (she is explaining how your biography can become your Biology) :
The Story of a young patient of Norm’s is a good example of how this process works. Norm called me for a phone consultation on this patient, a dentist, who was not feeling well in general and was becoming increasingly exhausted. He had an acute pain around the right side of his abdomen, and he was also seriously depressed…
… Depression is another symptom that all is not well. Within the clinical world, depression is generally considered an emotional and mental disorder. But prolonged depression often precedes the development of physical illness…
…As Norm examined his dentist-patient, he had a feeling that the man was developing an illness. Because of the man’s abdominal pain, Norm ran tests for pancreatic cancer, but they came back negative…
…In my evaluation I saw that the right side of this patient’s body, around the pancreas, was generation toxic energy. I told Norm that this man was burdened by an enormous feeling of responsibility and that it had become a constant source of anguish for him…
He said goodbye and returned to his patient… The patient admited that he wanted to leave dentistry, but he felt he couldn’t go in to something else because of the impact this decision would have on his dependents. Norm didn’t tell him that he had the energy frequency of pancreatic cancer, but he talked with him about career frustrations and tried to help him shift his negative attitude. Unfortunately, the man was unable to act on Norm’s advice…
…Two weeks later, this young man’s primary physician repeated the test for pancreatic cancer. This time they proved positive. The man was operated on immediately, but he died within four months of his surgery.
So can depression make you sick?
Yes it can and not only i can make you sick as we see it can also kill you, there are also a great series of documentaries that I strongly recommend you watch called, “Unnatural Causes” that explains in a more scientific manner how depression, stress and anxiety can increase your chances of illness such as diabetes, cancer, heart desease, and more. But these documentaries explain how the less wealthy communities are more likely to have these diseases because of the constant stress.
But I know what you’re thinking, this is all very gloomy but there is a simple cure to all of this you know? Just be happy! ha ha ha
As human beings we tend to over complicate everything, of course it is impossible to be happy all the time but like everything there is balance needed, most people are geared toward negative thinking and there is no balance between happy and sad thoughts, and when someone is labeled as depressed that means that their mind is consumed with negative thoughts.
But it is all a matter of perspective really, where some see a glass half empty others see a glass half full and their are both looking at the same glass, they are not separate glasses. So when you feel like your life is crumbling to pieces remember that every time you fall you can always get back up.
Can depression make you sick?
It can kill you, so start learning that for the rest of your life you’re stuck with you and the sooner you make peace with that fact the better, life in not a marathon, we are not all the same and we are not all supposed to have the same life even though that is what a lot of people make you believe, never be afraid of being who you are and love yourself for it.
