Why not making a decision is too hard

Dave Wood, founder of Empowernetwork has been ranting about Decisions in the last few webcasts.
Maybe he’s a bit frustrated because there are a lot of people in Empower who are only on the basic level because they have not made a decision. Or not everybody is going to the event in Las Vegas 🙂
So, I felt compelled to write a bit about decisions because when ever he talks about decisions (mostly about going all-in, mentally and product-wise and going to the events), I know what it feels like to make a decision. And I wonder if not everybody knows how that feels.
Why not making a decision is making your life hard
A couple of years ago, when my back went out (again), I made the decision that as soon as I could walk more or less normally again I would go to my work out place every day which I did for half a year or so.
Eventually life happened and I couldn’t go every day anymore. So amended my decision: I go to my fitness place every afternoon I don’t have an appointment.
I found out afternoons work for me the best. I tend to get tired in the afternoons and if I’m home I’m kinda glued to the telly or the laptop TV… almost falling asleep. I said the other day, I can’t wait to be old enough to do afternoon naps LOL
So, if I don’t have an appointment in the afternoon, I go to my work out place Women’s Fitness.
And I have. I don’t make the decision every day any more. Done once. The only question is: Do I have an appointment or is my afternoon free.
Well, unless it’s Tuesday, then I go after the Entrepreneur Meetup. Another decision.
I have a strong reason, too: I don’t want my back to go out like this anymore! It’s painful!
Often I’m alone working out, but sometimes there is another woman. Often I ask her: do you come often, or how often a week do you come?
Almost every time I get the answer: not as often as I should. It takes so much energy to get up and come, but when I’m here it’s great.
See? She has not really made the decision to come. So every time she wants to go, she has to bring up energy to come. I don’t.
It’s a decision. It’s a commitment.
I then tell her my story. Hoping she gets the “punchline”.
Same when I was younger and played Handball and in my thirties Softball. It was never a decision every week to go to practice or not. I just went. I joined the team, and that was it.
Same with choir practice now. It’s Thursday? It’s choir night. I don’t have dates or appointments. Thursday night is a fix date with my choir.
Alright, so sometimes, I’m tired. I wish it wasn’t Thursday. But there is no choice. I go. And after 1,5 hours of singing, I’m pumped up. Not tired anymore.
Why not making a decision is tiresome
When I get such answers as above it makes clear they have not really made a decision because buying a subscription, a book, a course is not the decision yet to really use it.
Make the decision now, for what ever you have bought recently. Make the decision to use it – or not use it.
You will see it’ll be much easier.
Because if I do have an appointment in the afternoon, I slip into my work out gear, set up my mini trampoline and jump and jog for about 20 minutes. Then take a shower. I usually watch a webcast or a training inside of Empower or listen to an Inner Circle audio.
Have you joined a business, a network marketing company and say, “I’ll see how it’s going before I really go all-in”? Do you see how hard it’ll be to become successful? Without the decision to do it, you will have to make a little decision for every little thing.
Isn’t that really a wasting of energy? Yours! Make the decision to do it!
When blogging about your company, your products, your results, and the results of your team members, and customers is part of your decision, you will do it every day, without having to decide every day.
When I started with this blogging business, we soon came up with a 90 day blogging challenge. I had decided to do it for 90 days and if I don’t make a lot of money by then I will quit. Well, I kinda kept on going, maybe that decision was not as strong as I thought, or I made a new decision along the way: I am all-in. I’m doing this. That’s it. Period.
So, with the new blogging platform Kalatu, we have a 21 day blogging challenge. Apparently it takes 21 days to do something consistently to make a new habit. And with the 21-day-blogging plugin I don’t have to come up with an idea to blog every day. Though today, this is one without that plugin. Just listening to Dave triggered this post.
Let me know below. Have you made a decision? Has „it“ gotten easier?
