A Day In The Life

My Channel Got Terminated

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

I wake up this morning, wanting to look closer at the two messages I got from Youtube:

UMG has reviewed your dispute and reinstated its copyright claim on your video “Love Chocolate” For more information, please visit your Copyright Notice page.

rumblefish has reviewed your dispute and released its copyright claim on your video, “Woman’s Day”. For more information…

I take it the first means UMG insists that I’m not supposed to use Bon Jovi’s music on my video even though that video is 3-4 years old. Even though it was from a competition and I clearly remember Bon Jovi release one piece of his music every day for us and for the competition – as long as the little image was in the video.

Oh darn it! I can’t find it in my Animoto list. Might have deleted it?

I suppose “released its copyright” means it’s ok to use the music?

MAD

by imagerymajesticWhat gets me mad is that they didn’t tell me they were going to shut down my channel.

I got those two emails and I didn’t even get the chance to delete the first one. I mean if those cry babies at UMG don’t want me (and others) to promote Bon Jovi, hell, why should I keep it up?

DANG and the channel is gone.

I don’t know if it’s because of that or if those haters who are roaming Youtube flagged my channel for the few Empower Videos I had on it. Lately I had only added videos with my pretty face on it.

Instead of doing what I had planned to do today, I have to try to get my channel back. Get a Vimeo account. And upload any video I still have on my computer or backup. And find the blog posts and autoresponder email messages that refer to that video or blog posts.

I am not the first and probably not the last. But I’m glad to find out that Empower Network is having lawyers after those haters.

Though nobody knows when or if we get our channels back.

And it’s not only the videos. It’s the comments, the number of views and likes. The contacts. The subscribers.

GRRRR

Watch this space. I will share solutions or what ever else I’m facing on this trip with Youtube.

Have you lost your channel? Any tips?
