I found out Day 4–Jere Thompson is Ambit Energy

The credibility and longevity of the company has now rested on the shoulders of Jere Thompson for nearly six years.
It sounds unreal with my saying this, and I have said it on many occasions, but when I first set my eyes on Jere Thompson, I knew there was something very special about him as a leader. Without him speaking a word, I picked up the humility, professionalism and exceptional character he posseses.
That occurred a mere four days after joining the company. There was something about his demeanor and the manner he walked across the stage that magnified the trust and integrity that embodies his presence.
“To become the finest and most respected energy retail provider in the country” and the glue that has held it all together, “to never sacrifice integrity for growth” has been the rallying cry of Jere Thompson since day one.
Longevity
CEO and co-founder, Jere Thompson along with co-founder and chief marketing officer, Chris Chambless have taken Ambit Energy from a start-up to being one of the Fastest growing privately held companies in America. In 2010, Inc. Magazine, in fact, named it #1.
Jere Thomson who has never before publicly projected the company’s growth has being saying during the past couple months that he expects the company will reach a billion dollars in revenues this year, a milestone that only a handful of companies have achieved in less time without acquisition or merger.
Credibility
But understand, although the company’s growth is extraordinary, it pales to the level of greatest and leadership that Jere Thompson exudes in leading the company.
One of the most fundamental principles he credits the success of Ambit is a principle he says he learned from Jack Welch, former CEO and chairman of General Electric. That is:
“The ability of an organization to learn and to apply quickly that learning into action is the ultimate competitive advantage”
I have seen this work through my 2 and ½ years with the company.
Jere Thompson and his staff have meticulously reviewed the company’s timing and preparedness to expand into new markets with the determination that everything had to be right before doing so. It took its time while other companies expanded into greater numbers of markets more rapidly. And still, Ambit Energy, has far exceeded the growth of those other companies and continues to be the company that has attracted the most customers.
Another principle Jere Thompson espouses is that he feels underlying his success has been the understanding that no one achieves success on his or her own. In that regard, not only did he partner with Chris Chambless, a former executive who helped to grow Excel Communications to a billion dollar company faster than Microsoft, he has brought in other top business leaders in the country including Cynthia Young from Southwest Airlines and John Burke who has been named one of the top 100 IT experts in the country.
Jere says that he focuses on assuring everyone associated with Ambit Energy finds it financially and educationally rewarding and are able to connect with the business emotionally.
That has certainly occurred for me in regard to each aspect.
I mentioned in an earlier post that Jere Thompson has attracted Seven Covey and John C. Maxwell, each best selling business authors, to partner with him in writing and releasing audio CD’s entitled The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Ambit Energy Consultants and The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership in Ambit Energy, respectfully.
Talk about Credibility!
John Maxwell, in fact, says in an interview with Jere Thomson that he is a fine leader and that he would join Ambit Energy if he were looking for a new business.
Jere Thompson responds; the best is yet to come.
