Zig Ziglar became the motivational speaker to millions of people who participated in various Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) and Network Marketing companies. He often was a mandatory or highly suggested “listen to personality” by many leaders, speakers and motivational and life coaches. There is not doubt that Zig Ziglar made a marked on literally tens of millions of people as you will find his quotes, books, audios and videos in every entrepreneur collection.
Why did Zig Ziglar become such an icon in the Network Marketing and Sales arena?
One real possibility is the fact that he himself became a sales person after returning home from World War II. He continuously improved himself by his curiosity of the human condition. He often would refer to people as good friends, even if they weren’t yet clients. It was this charm that most people in the Network Marketing arena fail to truly study and learn. You see Zig Ziglar was all about creating relationships, helping people to get what they need and was a student of the Law of Success coined and demonstrated by Napoleon Hill.
Who was Zig Ziglar
Zig Ziglar was born in Lower Alabama and while there is a lot to say about him, his life became publicly interesting in his 40’s. Zig Ziglar’s started speaking when he was 40 and his first book was called “See you at the top”, published in 1975, it was a stepping stone in to the real way of connecting with people. He had an unbelievable way of connecting to people, making anyone feel instantly like a friend. Those relationships fostered in to a close relationship with people like Jim Rohn (RIP), US Presidents and Margaret Thatcher. Zig Ziglar went on to write as many as 30 different books on being positive and leadership.
Ziglar accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at the age of 45 and ever since that day, Zig Ziglar stated that was the turning point of his life. His way of thinking to be focused on what the other person/customer/client wants, then meeting or exceeding expectations and remaining friendly in the face of opposition. “People often say that motivation doesn’t last,” Mr. Ziglar noted in one of his dozens of quotable maxims liberally sprinkled throughout his pep talks. “Well, neither does bathing — that’s why we recommend [both] daily. No Doubt a biblical scholar of Proverbs with a modern twist of wisdom.
Prestonwood Baptist Church Pastor Jack Graham, Ziglar’s friend and pastor, said Ziglar “truly was filled with faith.”
“He was positive. He was hopeful. You just never heard negativity from Zig Ziglar,” Graham said. “It wasn’t just something he did on a platform. This was who he was. This is how he lived his life. And he helped so many people.”
“He was a leader of leaders and a mentor of mentors and all that you can say,” he added.
Zig Ziglar dies at the age of 86 in a Dallas Hospital in the suburb of Plano, his memorial service will be at the Prestonwood Baptist Church Saturday (December 1, 2012). I have stated before, God will take you from this Earth for one of two reasons, either you have not learned or done what God intended for you or when you have finished with God’s plan. I would like to think Zig Ziglar was the later.
