What is the best way to get protein?

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

I was raised as a meat eater and I was thought , that you need to eat meat to survive. To be honest I used to believe, that is healthy to eat it as well. But those days are gone now.

I haven’t had any meat for over a year now . Recently I decided to adopt the vegan lifestyle and I am a beginner vegan. It is the best thing I have ever done and it keeps getting better.I know I love learning and I do believe that when people are given all the information they can make a very intelligent choice regarding animal products. Since humans have been consuming animals, milk and eggs for thousands of years I did a lot of research regarding protein. The information regarding the connection between animal produce and chronic diseases is very convincing. There is always another way.

Most people choose to consume animals because that is how they have been told and shown by their family and friends. We are naturally compassionate , loving and caring creatures. You learn that killing a chicken a pig or a cow is acceptable in this part of the world. Let’s pretend  you see an advert for a restaurant, that is selling cat burgers and hot dogs , made of dog meat . Most people would cringe just thinking about. You have been thought that cats and dogs are pets and not food. But there are parts of the world, where people eat dogs , cats , horses and so on. It is all part of the programing , that we all have . You are born this pure loving compassionate being. If you give to a toddler an apple and a little chick  ,the toddler will know by instinct to eat the apple and play with the chick. It is unnatural for humans to want to kill another living creature, especially when there is an abundance of all plant food. It is not , that meat have any health benefits it is you are programed to think this is true.

The marketing of meat has lead to a popular belief, that you need meat for protein. This is the biggest myth as it is well known that every protein comes via the photosynthesis process . When the plants leaf collects the UV rays it converts it into amino acid. And every protein is made of amino acids. So the best way to get protein is on a plant based diet   . Protein is a direct product of sunlight and plants.

Here is a list of 5 of the best plant based protein sources

1. Spirulina-the absolute winner in the protein contest. Spirulina contains 70% of pure plant protein. You can use it as a great addition to your smoothies and drinks.

2. Goji berries– this little red tasty berries  contain 19 complete amino acids. Goji berries also contain 2500mg/100g, while oranges contain 50mg/100g Vitamin C . That’s 50 times more!

3.Quinoa – the mother of all grains. It is very easy to cook. Quinoa provides  12-18% complete protein. Use it as an alternative to rice and pasta.

4.Hemp seeds– Complete source of protein (36%) Hemp is also a rich and balanced source of Omega-3 and Omega-6 including the rare form of GLA (Gamma Linoleic Acid). GLA has been shown to help maintain heart health, healthy cholesterol and blood pressure levels and aid in hormonal balance.

5. Chia Seeds –Chia seeds  contain twice as much protein as any other seed or grain. And yes, good omega-6 is available in chia seeds as well.   There are many other antioxidants and nutrients in chia seeds, including phosphorous and manganese.

Like most people who have decided to become vegans I am sure you have yours. I made the decision when I saw a

. My heart goes to every suffering animal . This kind of cruelty is totally unnecessary. I believe, that when people are given the information they can make the decision themselves.

Sending Blessings and Love
