7 Tips For A Better Blogging Routine!
Can your day be more productive with a routine or do you prefer to take the day as it comes to you?
I am a list kind of gal. I like to make lists and use them. I have a great sense of accomplishment by checking off a checklist.
What might your day look like to be more productive? What are the major parts of your day? Business, personal, family?
Plan your work and work your plan.
To make your content worth every bit that you put into it, you need to think about how you can use your content. You want to share it on social media, email, youtube and social media niche groups.
So what is the most logical order to do this in? Again, having a routine and following it step by step can be an efficient way to be productive.
Example of a routine that could be used for a blog post to get the most ‘bang for your buck’.
1) Choose your topic for the day. I keep a file on my phone with Blog Post Ideas. Throughout my day if I get an idea for a blog post I add it to my list. I also have a couple of lists of Blog prompts, fill in the blanks and lists of questions to prompt me. With our Kalatu Blog if you are have a brain block there is an option for suggestions.
2) Google Keyword Planner is a useful free tool. With this tool you can position your content to be found. You can find out which keyword or keyword phrases are getting the most searches. You can create a keyword plan and use these in your video and blog post. Copy the list and put a comma between each. Most popular at the top. (These will be your tags. Put a hashtag in front of them and now you have hashtags to share or put into your post.
3) Create a short video on your topic. This could be a video where you talk and are on screen, it could be Screencast-O-Matic video, where you screen share your content or you could take slides from a powerpoint and create it into a video. Start the upload of your video (this could take a while) Do not publish to youtube or EN video hosting until blog post is written. You will need blog post content for your description.
4) Next write your blog post. Once your written word is done, add that in your description of the video, add your keywords to the tag. Add a meta tag description and start your download of the video. Make sure to add your video into your blog post when it is loaded, along with any other relevant photos.
5) When your video is finished uploading on youtube and you have added your description and tags and published it, then share it on your social media.
6) Share your Blog post on social media. Share your blog post on website forums for the niche of your blog post. Then share your post with your email list if you have one. If you don’t, why not? Put this on your to do list. Two Autoresponders to look at are Aweber and Get Response.
7) Set up a folder on your computer for these blog posts. Use a template for each blog post and save that under the blog post title. You could create a separate folder for each and add into that folder other resources if you wanted to. Using a template should put everything into one place in the event that you would want to reference back to that at some point in time. (Say for linking within your own blog) Alphabetical and easier to find than on your blog where you could have hundreds of posts to go through.
Ready, Set, Template!
You can use this template to create blog posts offline if you are not near a computer or wifi connection and then copy and paste at a later time into your Kalatu or other type of blogging format for publication. It is a Tech&Go. Or you could speak it, if your device has that capability and edit and format it later on your computer. If you use a mobile device, you will need a syncable app like Polaris Office. Or email the files to yourself to open on a computer.
8) Template? Below is an example. Of course you could add or subtract from it anything that you like.
Content Template
Date: Date of post
Title of Blog Post: Title or working title
Blog Post Content: Write your post
Your Video URL links: Video links that you create
Youtube URL links: Reference video links
Photos: Links to photos on the web or copy and paste photos here
Call To Action: Type your call to action or add URL CTA here
Meta Tag Description: This is a short description to put in the Alt. description. Short and sweet. A bit for who you are targeting.
Keyword Tags: The keywords or phrases that you found in the Google Keyword Planner all sets separated with a comma.
Hashtags: Take the above and add a #hashtag in front of each
Blog Post URL: Put your blogpost URL here to easily find it later
Make The Time!
Now you have all the information for your blog post content in one place. Set aside a block of time to do this. It might take you an hour. It might take you an hour and a half or two. Block this time out and put it on your schedule. It is your appointment with yourself to get your number one priority work done. This frees up the rest of your day to attend to other tasks.
Do you need to get up one hour early in your day to work on this when nothing else can become a distraction? Put your phone on silent. Turn off social media. Maybe you work best at night when everyone else is in bed.
Make it a priority! Getting the word out is the lifeblood of your business. Why not do it by talking about something you love and are passionate about.
