Multiple “Marketing” Personalities

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Are you pushing people away with your Multiple “Marketing” Personalities?

Multiple Personality Disorder is a difficult illness for anyone to have to go through, particularly frustrating for families and friends who have to guess which “personality” is going to pop up next.

Until yesterday, it did not occur to me that I was confusing prospects, and people who follow me and support me, with my Multiple “Marketing” Personalities.

It wasn’t until yesterday that I decided to take a serious look at my Facebook wall and notice that I was changing my mind about which business I want to promote every few weeks.

“That is why nobody wants to follow you, you are like Sybil (with your marketing)”  a fellow marketer said to me yesterday.  “You are a writer, focus on that… When you pull yourself together, you are going to do really well.”

Based on the book Sybil by Flora Rheta Schreiber, the 1976 movie Sybil dramatizes the life of a shy young graduate student, Sybil Dorsett (in real life, Shirley Ardell Mason), suffering from dissociative identity disorder as a result of the psychological trauma she suffered as a child. With the help of her psychiatrist, Sybil gradually recalls the severe child abuse that led to the development of 13 different personalities.

Not to make light of people with multiple personalities, Marketing is not as easy as some people, including myself, may think it is.  In this profession, it is very easy to get caught up in the new cool thing; but the one fact I seem to be overlooking is the one thing that hurting me as well as others who care about my business as well as my well being.

The fact is, you MUST pick a leader, then submit yourself 100 percent to their teachings.  And, above all, allow yourself to be ‘coachable’, and FOCUS!!
