Mindset is a “State of Mind”
You will hear this said by many wealthy and successful people.
Without a set State of Mind, you cannot successfully reach your goals.
Last night, Sept 7th, was my niece’s wedding. She was beautiful and her husband was spectacular! Together, they have already been through what most people never experience in their entire lifetime together. they battled “for worse”, those hardened times. they battled “for richer or poorer” battling to a point of nearly being totally broke and they battle “for in sickness and in health” where Amber (the beautiful bride) overcame cancer and all this done in their 20′s.
Yesterday they started a new chapter in their lives together with a very very bright future.
I had a real heart to heart talk with my brother Chris (father of the bride). We talked about a lot of things like family and even business. Chris is a top salesman for Toyota and he is successful because of his mindset. “It’s all a State of Mind” he told me.
Chris was 4 days away from forclosure on his home a few years back and he was in a place that he need to to change his mindset.
Chris is not a quitter and neither am I, I guess it runs in the family. He is also a numbers guy, so he knows his number in all aspects as each situation requires a different set of numbers, but what really hit me is when he said “First you need to know what you want”. I really wasn’t sure what he meant by that until he said “Everyone wants something in their life, but the one thing I learned and that was you need to focus on the big picture, not the small ones.” Chris told me that I told him I wanted to move to Ontario so that Rina could be reunited with her family after almost 14 long years here in Alberta. He told me I was focusing on all the wrong things, like how much money I needed to make and what it would cost to buy a house and so on.
Then he told me this “You need to picture your life down there, what you will do, what you want to do. That’s what you focus on!”
Now this made a whole lot of sense, my focus was on a bunch of small pictures which was making my focus on success that much more difficult. I needed to change my “State of Mind”.
I hope this makes sense to you!
Chris and I only see each other a few times a year and yet we live 20 minutes away from each other. To me, it seems very sad to be that far away from each other, yet we are so close.
What came out of our “State of Mind” talk was, we both realized after talking to each other, that our “State of Mind” is driven more in one direction than in all the right directions.
State of Mind is very powerful and when you realize it, anything is possible.
We now realize that it is possible to see each other a lot more often, so we are organizing more family gatherings and barbeques.
My advice to anyone who has drifted away from family and friends, or even if your business is suffering, get in the right “State of Mind” and anything is possible!
