  • Why broadcast emailing is important
  • What do you broadcast about?

Broadcast Email Training Tip#1

 What is a broadcast email?

A broadcast email is where you write and send an email to all of your subscribers at one time and the information is NOW.  It’s current, it’s today.  These are not your follow up messages that you have pre-programmed into your autoresponder to be sent at specific intervals. This is a message you prepare and send to your subscribers today.  Relevant and fresh.

Broadcast Email Training Tip #2

Benefits of Broadcast Emailing

Understanding why you want to send broadcasts is an important part of your broadcast email training because your content will be fresh and those who receive it will feel that you are more engaged with them.

People want to feel important and treated as you want to be treated.  By you sending, and them receiving, your ‘now, today’ thoughts and information, they appreciate it.

You’re building a relationship of ‘know, like and trust’ with them.  Follow up emails certainly are a critical component of doing that so long as you put yourself in them… meaning your personality, your stories, your experiences and your authenticity.

Your subscribers will know your information is current and fresh when you reference things your doing in terms of the season…

For example… if you send an email and start if off saying…

“Hey … Today I’m picking pumpkins with the kids, but before we head out, wanted to shoot you this quick email.”

Well… you wouldn’t say that in March!  It’s October and it’s about that time to pick pumpkins for Halloween.  It’s current.  It gives your readers a picture of what you’re doing and who you are.  They love that!

If there’s a football game on and you can relate a players attitude to that of a business entrepreneur, write about that… it’s relevant, it’s NOW kind of stuff and your readers will discover you enjoy football and can visualize you watching football and want your take on the play and how they can relate to you and your thoughts about the attitude issue.

News and current events, your vacation travels, things your kids are doing, funny stuff in real life that just happened… these are all the things you can incorporate into your broadcast emails to keep them fresh, current and NOW.

Broadcast Email Training Tip #3

What to Broadcast About?

Ahh… this broadcast email training component usually stumps new marketers.  They want to know what they should broadcast about.  The answer is easy if you think about it… but let’s go through some common sense ideas.

  1. Who are the subscribers that make up your list?  These are the people you are sending broadcast email to.
  2. Why are they on your list?  What are they looking for?
  3. Why should they stay on your list?  What are you providing to them?

Subscribers stay on your list because you are giving them value and information that they find useful.  Therefore, when you can answer these questions, you’ll know what to write an email about to send to them.  Yes?

Put yourself in their shoes… what  do they want from you?

If your business is accounting, you want to send emails relating to best practices that the average person can apply to helping them stay organized, current laws, and demonstrating your expertise for hire.

If your business is landscaping, you want to send emails about when and how to treat your lawn for weeds, types of plants and flowers best suited for your area, how to arrange flower gardens and how trim trees, etc… and show your expertise to position yourself for the job when they realize it’s more than they up to when it comes to DIY projects.

If your business is a home based network marketing or internet marketing type, send emails about how to make money from home using tools, resources, products and services that are readily available to them.  Let them know the importance of replacement income, commission and product choices, community and support, etc.  Position yourself as the ‘go to’ person for solutions.  Talk about the lifestyle.  This is ultimately what they want.  They don’t want a business… they want a life.  Talk about the lifestyle.

Broadcast Email Training Tip #4

Using Your Blog and Email Together

I love this one!  Here’s a great way to kill 3 birds with one stone.

The three birds are:  Relationship and branding building, blogging and emailing all at the same time.

So how does this sound…

You want to rank for your keywords in the search engines.

You want to make a blog post.

You want to send a broadcast to your subscribers.

You can get all three done in one big swoop.

Here’s how to do that, and I’ll use this exact blog post as an example.

My subscriber base is looking for information that helps them to be better online marketers for whatever business they have.  So I thought about how I could help them and get those things I just mentioned done all in one sitting.

Here’s the steps I took.

1)  Found a keyword phrase that my subscriber base will want to know about.  “Broadcast Email Training”  You want to put ” marks around your keyword phrase to get the exact amount of competing content.  Anything less than 50,000 is open game for me.

NEXT…..

2)  I wrote a blog (you’re reading it) on the subject of Broadcast Email Training.

3)  Made sure that the blog (the article) was SEO (Search Engine Optimized) for my keyword phrase “Broadcast Email Training“, meaning, when someone sits down at their computer and types that in, this blog post will be found on page 1.

NOTE:  Sometimes it takes a couple of days for your article (blog post)  to get there, so at the time I’m actually sending this email to my subscribers which is right after I publish this, it won’t have had time to pop yet.  But it will show up, I’m pretty confident.

4)  I wrote a short email about the importance of getting some broadcast email training to understand how to make more sales, build a stronger relationship with your readers and then link them over to this blog post.

5)  When I linked my subscribers over to this post, I’m building a know, like and trust relationship with them.  You see, your blog is your real estate.  It’s your home online.  It’s filled with your value, your story, your contact information, your personality, your values, what your up to.  This is where you want people consuming your information.  Hah!… That’s a great topic for another blog post actually .

6)  If I wanted to take it a step further, I could make a short video about it and post it to YouTube or other video sharing sites.

This is a great way of taking the creative energy of coming up with content and making it go far with little effort.

Broadcast Email Training Tip #5

How Many Times Should You Send An Email Broadcast?

I have learned from the best in my particular niche.  These are men and women who have multiple 7 and 8 figure incomes who use primarily the internet to make their fortunes.

The answer to how many times should you send an email broadcast… if you ask them…

EVERY DAY

Yes, this means that if you’re also sending out a scheduled follow up email, your subscribers will be getting two emails that day.

I know that sounds excessive, but in my niche of home based business, internet marketing, etc… 2 times a day (sometimes even 3 times a day during a product launch) is what is most effective.

Will people unsubscribe?  Certainly!  There are a few that will unsubscribe on the basis that you’re emailing too much. In fact, you may receive a couple hate emails back.  Don’t respond.  Don’t react.  Don’t pay any attention.  This is business and for those who make their livelihood on the internet, email marketing is a strategy that is tried and true and works.  They are not a match for this business type and therefore, it helps you if they do unsubscribe to keep your list clean and responsive to you and your offers.
