We’ve all heard the claims of people making ridiculous amounts of money with their blog posts.  You check out their site, and they’re offering you a deal on an eBook they wrote to help you do the same.  So you pull out your credit card.  You buy the book, and learn all they have to teach about how you can start blogging for money.

A lot of these books will give you some vague outlines about how to get everything set up, or what services you’re going to need.  If you’re lucky, the book will give you a detailed process for getting yourself positioned on the internet.  If you’re unlucky, you’ll have bought something that you probably could have figured out with some research on Google.

Something For Nothing

The online world is full of free stuff.  How many people do you know have a gmail account?  Which of your friends are on Facebook?  Do you play games at free flash sites?

The amount of free things to do online is staggering.  And then there’s blogger, Google’s free blogging system.  You don’t have to drop a single dime to get set up there.  So why not get set up and make some free money online?

Because there’s no such thing as free.

It takes both a monetary and time investment to produce a powerful, money-making blog.  Most newbie bloggers fail to realize this, and become disenheartened to the whole idea of blogging.

You’ll hear people whine when they don’t get results.

• “I couldn’t sell anything.”

Listen folks, if you want to succeed, you need to put in some effort.  Do you think those gurus started out knowing how to get the results they do?  If it was a scam, then why are people making money every day?

There are no shortcuts to making money online.  The only way to get results is to dig in, and start taking action!

Planning To Fail

Another pitfall to online success is not having a routine, or a system to follow.  You’re bouncing around from product to product, looking for that one thing that’s going to rake in the money.

This is not how to succeed.  If you want to get serious about blogging for money, you have to be disciplined, and very monogamous to your plan.  You’ve seen the sites that are plastered with ads and affiliate links.  Sometimes they’re so cluttered that it’s difficult to find the actual content that you’re looking for.

These people are the bottom feeders, at the end of their rope, and desperate for any kind of response.  They never had a plan, and were ultimately doomed to failure.
