It’s so Inspirational.
I came across this clip yesterday and I thought this is a great start to the week especially if we are feeling a bit down or whinging about having some sort of minor ailment. If you think you have issues take a cold hard look at this clip and you’ll realise that your life isn’t half as bad as you think.
When the Olympics and Paralympics came to London last year we spent a whole lot of time getting tickets to the Olympics but were unsuccessful. However, as we really wanted to get to see the area and it was only a few miles away we tried again to get into the Para’s. This time we were successful and I must admit we had an absolutely great time. All the arenas were spotless and the main events were awe inspiring.
Wherever you went on the site you were greeted by fun loving, smiling and ever so helpful Games Makers. This made the experience one to be never forgotten and inspirational. All the events we saw in the main stadium, which was full up with 80,000 people on all occasions, just showed us that whatever limitations either physical or mental need not inhibit you from entering the sporting arena. This clip gives you a great example of pure determination along with the help and assistance from fellow members of his family.
We came away from the Para’s with a new sense of purpose in our everyday lives and took on the mantle of if they can do those inspirational events and of course the years of continuous back breaking training then what is really possible for us.
Totally Inspirational.
It does give you a sense of appreciation of our “normal” health and also look on others not so well off in a new light. When we see a wheelchair bound person or someone showing signs of disablement we look at them as just everyday people that are just different to some extent. Not inferior beings. If what we saw does the same for other people both over here and abroad then that’s a step in the right direction.
I know the Paralympics were started over here but it’s great that over the years not only more people are entering the arena of sports but attendances by spectators is growing exponentially. The next Olympics and Para’s are down in Brazil and I trust that support from the locals there and worldwide television audiences will watch as fervently as they did when it was over here.
So when you next come across someone who is “different” then remember that inside that person is a perfectly perfect person who has desires and wishes that they want to achieve. It’s always easy to feel sorry for them but going by my experience the last thing they want is sympathy. If they decide to go into the sporting field they deserve all the support that you would give an able-bodied sports person. I know that we will always look at that person and to some degree understand what’s going on behind those eyes. Just a little thought for today. If you have a comment just leave it below.
