I Want To Be Like Lindsay Lohan

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Yes, absolutely! Often times, there is controversy in internet marketing. Really, who wouldn’t want their blog to get as much attention as Lindsay Lohan, not only an actress, but celebrity marketer. I mean, wow, this public figure has been on Alexa’s “What’s Hot” longer than Obama has been president!

Controversy sells doesn’t it? If it does, then what business owner out there wouldn’t want their business name to be exposed like Lindsay Lohan’s hot topic running? That is celebrity marketing for ya. I know, of course, we are talking exposure without the legal trouble and rehab stuff.

Let’s get this straight…I am a 35 year old Pacific Islander, male. Doing what she has done to get her name in the hot topics of the week, week after week would take me a lot more than adjusting my gender, sex appeal, controversial status, and the list goes on and on. But in order for me to capitalize on what I am about, first I have to be myself in what I do and say so people can know me through words and video. Then, I have to follow up and give those people valuable information for what they are looking for with a goal to change people’s lives by providing them a solution to their success.

Controversy Is Great For Marketing

My whole point is that as online marketers, not only is it important to brand yourself to success but also, don’t be afraid to get caught in a little controversy. Not everyone is going to agree with your point of view. Just like those teenagers clicking away from this article right now because they thought they were going to get leaked playboy photos of Lindsay Lohan.

David Wood, internet marketing phenom and co-creator of Empower Network has been criticized for busting out his chest in a no shirt banner appearance on the empower network. So what…Is that going to change the way empower works as a whole? Of course not, but it will engage readers in a way that they will want to know who this David Wood guy is. They will search for more information about this guy and when they see his success because of his passion for helping people and literally changing people’s lives all over the world. Possibilities are, they may want to join forces with Dave no matter if he wears a shirt or not, and they found this David from people’s rant who disagreed with him. Not a bad equation. Be yourself. A controversial blog is not a bad thing.

Are You Prejudice

I always believed that the word prejudice has gotten a bad reputation, but aren’t we all prejudice? I heard Dexter Yager, a pioneer in the network marketing business with Amway, speak about how we are all prejudice, but not in the way that I grew up seeing people get uncomfortable every time they heard the word. It’s true that the word prejudice got a bad name when people often partnered it up with the race. When I was growing up in middle school, we always thought of prejudice people not liking anybody who wasn’t the same color as them. Not always true.

We are all prejudice whether you believe it or not. We are prejudice in what flavor ice cream we like over the other, which magazine we buy, what internet niche we prefer to be associated with, what make of car we buy, and the list goes on and on.

How we perceive words in life, in this case “prejudice”, many times have to do with our past experience and the way we see people handle them. However, most often times we don’t know the true meaning until someone we see as credible explains the other side in a neutral manner.

In summary, it’s best to be yourself as an internet marketer
. You can build relationships through blogging, videos, emails, and of course verbally on the phone and in person. Don’t be afraid to come out of your shell and let people know your opinions and beliefs. Controversy will engage your market to know more about you and sometimes will work in your favor. Once again, controversy in internet marketing is not a bad thing.

Your wisdom may be the very one thing that someone needs to hear or read about in order for them to become successful. Failure and success is just and idea apart. Prejudice is just a word that is used to describe our preference rather than who we don’t like. Doesn’t mean that the other side that we don’t prefer is bad, it just means we believe the other will satisfy us more than the other.

So do I really like to be like Lindsay Lohan? Does Shaquille O’neil like to tap dance? You get the point. Go out there and rule your niche confidently and brand yourself to success.
