Eating off of small dishes can be a good weight loss trick. If you use a large dish, you will eat more food. Using a smaller plate can help you eat smaller portions.
When trying to lose weight, consumer egg white omelets for breakfast. Throw in some veggies like onions, spinach, bell peppers or broccoli. You can include some low-fat cheese, but stay away from full-fat versions. The fiber such food can provide is a great way to feel full, eat less and maintain a feeling of satiety throughout the morning.
Have a pack of healthy snacks on hand. These include nuts, cheese and vegetables. Having these handy snacks is convenient whenever you are hungry, and it will help you prevent making bad choices. It makes a quick and easy snack you can grab when you are on the go.
Eating leftovers is wonderful for losing weight. When you make a healthy supper, make a bit extra to have for the next day’s lunch. You can turn a chicken salad into a nice pita sandwich. This helps to eliminate some of the effort that goes into packing a lunch.
French fries are a very addictive snack to have during the day. It is important to avoid them if it all possible. There is, however, a healthy french fry alternative that you can bake yourself. Create 1/2″ wedges or fries and toss them with a tablespoon of oil, a bit of salt and pepper, and your favorite herbs. Spread them out on a baking sheet, and pop in a 400 degree oven for a half hour. Use a spatula to loosen them, turn them over and let them bake for approximately 10 minutes. They are good eaten with ketchup and are lower in fat, you will not even think about them being not being fried. Thanks to Laurel’s Kitchen cookbook for these “French Bakes”!
Eat your supper in late afternoon or early evening. Your metabolism has a better chance to digest your food properly the earlier in the day you eat. Whether you are awake or not, it has been shown that metabolism decreases in the evening. A dinner that you eat before the hour gets too late is one that your body will burn off more effectively.
Incorporate fruits and vegetables into tasty dishes by learning to make healthy sauces or dips as an accompaniment. Fruits can be used as desserts or made into chutneys as a healthy accompaniment to low-fat meats or vegetables. Cutting down on processed sugars is one great way to eat healthier and lose weight.
Walking is a great way to effectively lose weight. Walking diverts blood from the digestive system, acting as an appetite suppressant and reducing cravings. You can typically burn 500 calories for each hour of walking, which is a great and easy way to burn off your dinner.
Seek out lower fat versions of your favorite snack treats, for example, look for a baked version of your favorite potato chips. This is 30% less in fat and calories and you might not see any difference.
Exercising is important if you wish to lose weight. Make a commitment to a daily exercise time at a set hour during your day. Make note of your exercise time in your planner or calendar and make this time unavailable for anything else.
