Being honest with yourself and acknowledging that you need work is a huge step forward. Here’s some self-help tips for you to try.
If you are anxious around large groups or new people, work toward overcoming this by simply going with someone you trust to the movie theater. This helps put you into a social situation, but it doesn’t involve socializing until you are uncomfortable. It will also allow you to get used to being around lots of people.
The most important person to please is yourself; your self-esteem and happiness should come before anyone else’s opinion or desire. You are essentially responsible for your happiness; however, this don’t mean you should use people to get what you want. If you remain true to yourself while honoring your personal code of ethics, you will be better prepared to develop yourself more fully.
An overreaction to situations is going to cause you stress that is not necessary. It’s best to train yourself to cope with your daily stress, and it begins with analyzing every situation where you tend to feel strained. Even if mistakes have been made, you have the opportunity to find a fix or manage to live through it. Prioritize your achievements over your failures.
Knowing where to steer your life is an important thing to consider when thinking about personal development. Having long-term goals is great, because you could have a big change in your perspective.
Look to your internal beauty, rather than your external appearance. Your hair, clothing, and complexion are not the most important things about you. However, the personality you cultivate will be the one thing you are ultimately judged on. Your priority should be the enhancement of your inner beauty. Your outer beauty can be dealt with at a later time.
Avoid the temptation to comfort yourself with a shopping spree. Shopping your stress away, or “retail therapy” as some people say, is really more of a stress inducer, because it distracts you from the stress for a while but it all comes back with big bills and interest charges when the bills come in.
Always make your own decisions, so you do not miss any opportunities that life is providing you. Even if your knowledge is not what it could be, have the courage to make choices. You will need to develop your instincts to make good choices. Even when you make a bad decision, you can learn valuable lessons from your experience. When you make the incorrect decision, learn from this, and make sure that it never happens again.
Take the time to research the lives of successful people. Not only will you find information on being successful, but you will also learn about mistakes that others have already made and be able to avoid them. Think of reading about their stories as an important step in your own development.
Try challenging yourself as much as possible. Finding a new challenge will open up new possibilities. You could acquire new skills and learn new things. You might even aspire to reach a goal that no one has reached before. Take on a challenge that is unique and personally meaningful, instead of tackling something that someone else has already accomplished.
Quality Level
If the quality level of today is 2000, try to make tomorrow’s quality level 2001 or higher. Aim for frequent and continuous improvement. This attitude will help you stay motivated and focused on your development, so improve something daily.
Once you have tried these suggestions, log any mental or emotional changes. Don’t be too hard on yourself
