How about Spring Gardening at spring time
Spring is the best time of the year since it is neither too cold nor too hot. Gardening is a good leisure time activity, where we can see the plants grow, flowers bloom, grass become green and one feels very nice to watch these changes. The windy climate of March and the showery weather in April gives the water and sunlight for the growth of plants and it is the apt time for spring gardening.
Tips for Spring Gardening
Survey the area: Go around the area where you plan to start your garden. Make a note of the tree limbs that will be a hindrance. Consult an arborist to maintain large trees. If there is excess of perennial foliage, dump it in the compost pit. Deweed the unwanted shrubs and check the fences, and pathways for any amendments to be made caused due to freezing and thawing.
Order tools and plants: Check your old tools and get it repaired if need be. Place an order for new tools, seeds, shrubs and perennials. Every year try to venture and go for new plants.
Get ready to mow: Get the mover and the leaf blower serviced. Get the blades sharpened. Clear the lawn of winter debris and mark the place for mowing. Remove the damaged, diseased and dead branches from the woody plants. Trim the summer shrubs after flowering.
Take a soil test: If you have a home soil test kit, take samples and check soil pH.
Prepare New Beds:
Make new beds by clearing or removing sod or weed or debris. Spread layers of compost or well rotten good manure and then cultivate it. Plant your bare root trees, shrubs and perennials on a cloudy day.
Fertilize Plant only when active growth resumes.
If you follow these above tips then it is easy to do your own family spring gardening.
How to do cheap Spring Gardening
Collect seed from friends, and nurseries.
Use free weed killer techniques like pouring hot water on the weeds, or use black plastic bags, vinegars and newspapers to kill the weeds.
Make your own seedling starters by using newspaper, tray and duct tape.
Grow plants that fetch you money like turnip, lettuce, herbs, spinach, cherry tomatoes and winter squash.
